I first watched this on PBS and was fascinated at how (primarily) students were able to take down one of the most ruthless dictators in the world. Against all odds, and a powerful secret police force loyal to the dictator, these Serbian students (and later the entire country) waged a true social revolution with help by the Americans that toppled the dictatorship without any major violence.

America, wanting to promote not only Democracy but a more friendly Government to the west, provided not only monetary support but also guidance. For instance, Otpor (”Resistance” in Serbian…the students group) was given the book “Rules for Radicals” by Saul Alinsky to help them with their movement (this book, also available on Amazon.com, was written in the 70’s and details how to effect social change *effectively* and it sure worked).

Narrated by Martin Sheen, you see archival footage, interviews with the resistance movement members, learn about how their tactics worked and more. America should consider dropping copies of this documentary to those opressed around the world so they can see that democracy is possible even under the most extreme and tyrannical regimes.
