Those that have missed their popular piquant turtle would do well to check out this brand-new narrative. The spot may sound generic at first, but the chronicle itself is extremely well-written and even makes some nice references to past “Franklin” stories. Everything that’s likeable about the series is here and there are a couple of elegant surprises as well. There’s only one musical number, but it’s a catchy one and well worth listening to. The fable will easily bear viewers’ attention and there’s also a supblot that’s impartial as delightful as the main sage. Some of the characters have different voices, but such an satisfactory job of casting was done that these differences are barely noticeable, if at all.
For even more fun, check out the DVD special features. Nice bonuses include a read-along of an entire “Franklin” fable by author Paulette Bourgeois, descriptions of several of the characters with narration and a trivia game. There are also several games available for those who have a DVD-ROM drive.
Got this for my grandson, age 4. I didn’t gaze it; his mom said he liked it.
