Awesome Watch
This watch is great. There’s not much else I can say about it. It’s got a great weight and feel to it, the rubber watch band it nice and overall feels like it’s built pretty well. It’s nice enough to wear dressed up, or worn everyday for work and casually as I do. Awesome watch for the price.

In the workshops of Stuhrling Original, the unit specializing in mechanical movements, component selection, assembly, lubrication, adjustment and testing creates horological wonders entirely under vigilant attention of Swiss ownership and supervision. It is these workshops that produce the mechanical engines that are famous for meeting the highest existing criteria in there category. Starting with the main plate, the assembly process is performed in several consecutive stages up until anchoring the balance spring, which sets the watch into motion. Assembling a Stuhrling Original mechanical automatic movement comprises no less than 30 checkpoints, spread throughout the assembly process. Adjusting the angle of lift of the pallets, centering the balance-spring, poising the balance are just a few examples of these checkpoints; of which all are designed to enhance the performance of each movement. The movement must meet no less than seven criteria, including a mean variation in rate which is the highest standard in the industry in its class.

Stuhrling Original cases are distinguished by their technical complexity, their high-end aesthetic appeal and the quality of their finish. The watch cases are made from antimagnetic 316L surgical grade stainless steel, an extremely sophisticated alloy designed to stand up to intensive use. The rough parts, known as “middlecases” are blanked from a metal bar using a high-performance press. They then undergo eight successive stamping operations of a strength increasing gradually from 20 to 85 tons. Before each swaging operation, the middlecase is refired at a temperature of 1100 degrees Celsius, so as to temporarily reduce the hardness to a total stamping pressure of more than 400 tons. Finishing the cases then calls for fifteen polishing operations, all performed by hand alternating with nine baths guaranteeing immaculate cleanliness. Other components of the cases, such as rotating bezels or rider tabs also require a meticulous finish. The components of the cases are finally assembled by hand and rigorously tested.

Each Stuhrling Original dial has been designed to enable optimal read-off at a glance, while adding an element of artistic design. Stuhrling Original’s dials are blanked from a brass plate and two cylindrical feet are soldered below to ensure security with the movement. Polishing operations, creating special effects through the use of vintage hydraulic German machines, and electroplating are just some of the more than forty operations required to make most StuhrlingOriginal dials. The transparent protective coating is applied in an immaculately clean environment before the various inscriptions are transfer printed using a gelatin pad which takes an impression from an inked block. On many of the dials the hour markers are either individually applied by hand or embossed into the dial and then topped with a special dye. The application of Super Luminova is performed by artisans with a nozzle pen connected to a high-pressure pipe which calls for intense concentration. Once finished, each dial undergoes careful aesthetic scrutiny under extreme magnification, as well as technical testing, to ensure it complies with all predefined dimensions and specifications.

Great Watch, Bad Indigo
I recently purchased this watch and have had some problems with it. The good thing is that it looks great. It’s a good watch for professionals who don’t want multiple watches and want to be able to wear to any kind of function. It does a good job of that. Plus it doesn’t look too bulky, which to me was crucial because I have very small wrists. However, my indiglo gave out on me last week after only having my watch for 6 weeks. Luckily, Timex sent me a pre-paid box to send it back to the factory. The warranty lasts for a year too. The only problem I face now will be getting Timex to either take out the extra links or reimburse me for having to get someone else to do it for me. Hopefully mine was just a fluke.

This is a great watch!
This watch was everything I wanted in a timepiece, but couldn’t find in any of the local stores. Silvertone, which matches my jewelry since I prefer silver to gold, I needed a calendar for work, plus indiglo for seeing in the dark. The only difficulty I found at all was in adjusting the band, which was a bit difficult even with the instructions, but a family member was able to accomplish it. I now wear this watch every day, and I love it.

This watch is great! I am a nurse and I was looking for something that is work friendly with second hand, date and easy to read. Then, it is water resistant and indiglo to boot! In addition to work, I wanted something that looks nice enought to wear out to dinner. This watch it perfect. I got the two toned silver and gold one.

Previous reviewers said that it was difficult to get links out etc. I had the lady at the jewlery counter at Target (where I bought the watch) take 2 links out, and it was no charge. Easy!

Timex Group B.V. is one of the best-known American watch companies. Timex’s U.S. headquarters are located in Middlebury Connecticut and it has substantial operations in China, the Philippines and India and full scale sales companies in Canada, the UK, France and Mexico.

The company began in 1854 as Waterbury Clock in Connecticut’s Naugatuck Valley, known during the nineteenth century as the “Switzerland of America.” Sister company Waterbury Watch manufactured the first inexpensive mechanical pocket watch in 1880. During World War I, Waterbury began making wristwatches, which had only just become popular, and in 1933 it made history by creating the first Mickey Mouse clock under license from Walt Disney, with Mickey’s hands pointing the time.

During World War II, Waterbury renamed itself U.S. Time Company. In 1950 the company introduced a wristwatch called the Timex. I received this watch for my birthday from my husband. I had been looking for it for a couple of weeks because I was hesitant to purchase a watch online without seeing it in person. So my husband ordered it anyway. I’m glad he did. It was exactly what I had in mind. Big, but not clunky. A little bling, but not flashy. Perfect for me, anyway.

I just Recieved my watch, it’s my second Bulova watch, the first one I’ve been wearing since I was 17 years old and I am 29, and it’s still in great condition. Iloved my new watch, it’s elegant and nice to wear everyday and on the evening. You can see the diamonds sparkle !! I just have problem adjusting the date because it is suposed to be done at the corwn’s second position but on mine does not work. So if anybody knows how, please let me know. It’s the most beatiful watch I’ve ever seen!!

The Bulova Story

World Traveler
This may be the perfect watch for me. I spend over 50% of my time traveling for business in different time zones and this watch keeps me punctual in all of them. I was originally looking at the Tissot T-Touch, but couldn’t get past the cheap aesthetics and came to the realization that I would very rarely use any of the included functionality beyond the standard time and date display. I then checked out what Seiko had to offer and was positively giddy when I stumbled upon this Sportura - great looks, fantastic functionality, and a reasonable price.

You set the time and date once for your current time zone using the digital interface (look, there’s no dials!) and the watch automatically sets all the other time zones. You can also set DST for each time zone individually (select time zone, hold button D down for three seconds, and you’re done), which is important since entire regions like Asia don’t follow DST. In the home time and world time modes, the digital display shows the city name for the time zone, day of the week, date (day only), time, AM/PM (24 hour readout available as well), DST on/off, and alarm on/off. The only difference between the two modes is that in the world time mode, the second hand will point to the time zone on the bezel that is being displayed on the digital display (but the hour and minute hands will still display the time for your home time zone).

The analog watch hands are keyed off of the digital display, so they are always perfectly synced (fantastic for the OCD among us!). Switch time zones with ease (push button A to select world time mode, push button C to select new time zone using second hand to point to airport codes listed on watch bezel, hold button B down for three seconds to make selected time zone your new home time zone). You can also set an alarm for any time in any time zone. For instance, you’re in China and you want to set an alarm to remind you to call your wife and kids in California at 8pm PST. This watch makes it easy - there’s no mental math involved, you just select the west coast time zone, set an alarm for 8pm, and you’re done. You also get stop watch (chronograph) functionality thrown in. Plus, the sapphire crystal watch face and polished ceramic bezel mean that you aren’t going to scratch this thing with everyday usage (full disclosure: I managed to scratch my bezel lightly when I was handling some unfinished granite tiles for my kitchen).

And most importantly, this watch just looks darn cool, from the white-on-black digital display that scrolls city names to the laser-etched/polished black ceramic bezel to the orange highlights (second hand, 12/3/6/9 o’clock tick marks, buttons, leather band stitching and underside). I still catch myself checking it out on my wrist after wearing it every day for over a year.

You can (well, I can) always nitpick any product you buy, so if I had to, here would be my complaints about this Seiko:

* Lack of backlighting
* No auto DST functionality
* Buttons can get pushed inadvertantly when hand is bent back
* Buttons feel cheap compared to rest of watch
* Only one or two cities listed per time zone

None of those are serious enough to not warrant a 5-star rating. And I don’t find this watch is heavy. It feels substantial and oozes quality (more so than I was expecting for the price - this coming from someone who had only owned Fossil, Freestyle, Swiss Army, etc. prior to purchase, though), but its weight doesn’t draw attention to itself during the course of the day.

Despite a serious watch fetish and numerous opportunities to purchase more expensive watches, I always come back to the fact that I love the way this watch looks and functions, and I keep walking out of the watch stores wearing this Seiko.

Unusual and Very Cool
I love this watch. The colors are great - the black face/band/bezel, pale green luminous bits, and, of course, the distinctive orange accents. The stainless steel frame (with both polished and brushed bits that don’t show in picture) adds the masculinity. It all just works for me. Kind of retro, but somehow very modern. The picture doesn’t do it justice. Unlike one other reviewer, I don’t find that the orange bits push it at all, for this kind of watch. I you want ‘conservative’ (yawn), look elsewhere.

I like the fact that it has the functionality of a digital watch, but doesn’t look like one when you set it to display only date & day. Even with full digital turned on (as pictured), display is very subdued (this could be a negative for some - hard to read in low light, since there is no backlight). I was considering the analog version (SNA481), but glad I went with the SNJ007. I like chronograph watches with all the dials, but I think a clean face works better for the watch. Plus, the ‘world time’ function is pretty cool.

I was worried about size & weight, because of my small wrists (6.5″), but it’s perfect. The band has stiff inserts near the watch that keep it nicely curved and stable around the wrist.

I hope Seiko will make a rubber band that fits this watch, so I can wear it in the water. Supposedly the band for the SNJ005 will fit it, but I’m not a big fan of metal bands. Also, I think this watch needs a black band to look its best.
