Inglesina Zippy, Ink
I purchased the Inglesina Zippy after owning a Graco Spree stroller and a Quinny Zapp. Neither stroller was quite what I wanted, though they both had features which I liked. The Zippy has almost every feature I wanted in one stroller, and is by far my favorite so far. I bought the new model as soon as it came out and have used this stroller for almost a month now.
Fold:
I can fold the Zippy with one hand while holding my one year old in the other arm. The fold is well labeled and very easy, it’s not one that you need instructions to figure out. You do need to jerk it up in the air a little at the end of the fold to get it to lock, so someone who is very petite might have a little trouble with that. Otherwise, I cannot see anyone having trouble with this fold. It doesn’t fold up as tight as the Zapp does, but for a full sized stroller with as many features as it has, I was impressed with how compact it was. Rather than being a wide fold, the Zippy has a tall fold. I have no problem throwing this stroller folded up in the back of my tiny Focus, along with a weeks worth of groceries, a diaper bag, and whatever else is regularly in there. Unfolding the stroller is easy as well. You push a button on the right hand handle, shake it open and your done.
The stroller also ends in a standing fold! This is wonderful when you are holding a baby. Other strollers make you pick them up from the ground , but the Zippy has a handle, which is a little flimsy, on the side which you can use to pick it up. Grabbing a part of the frame works just as well.
Accessories:
Inglesina provides a bumper bar and a snack tray for the Zippy, both of which are very easy to install and change. It wouldn’t take more than 15 seconds to switch them. There is also a cupholder which comes with the stroller, but it isn’t going to hold anything larger than a small water bottle. A raincover comes standard with the stroller as well.
Storage:
The Zippy has a good sized storage basket underneath, but it is only accessible from the side because of the fold mechanism. The bag is pretty heavy duty and won’t stretch and drag your stuff on the ground. The sides are also high enough that baby stuff won’t fall out (unless you really stuff it). You could fit a good sized diaper bag and a few other baby supplies in this storage bag.
The Zippy also has a storage pocket on the back of the canopy. It is good for throwing keys, a cellphone and couple other things in it. The pocket has a magnetic closure.
The Ride:
The Zippy is very easy to push with one hand. It has suspension to help with bumps, but it is not an all-terrain stroller. It handles bumpy pavement well, and I think it would be pretty good through grass, but I wouldn’t attempt anything more adventurous than that. The front wheels both lock independently for a smoother ride. The rear brake is one touch lock and unlock.
The seat is well padded and the material seems easy to clean, though I haven’t had anything too messy to clean off it yet, just the regular debris. I have not removed the seat cover either, though it is supposed to be possible. The only concern I have with the seat is the fact that is is so well padded on the side, the width is cut down. My (very thin) year old son’s shoulders are brushing the sides. As he gets taller, his shoulders will move into a wider part of the seat, but a larger baby might be a little tight for a while.
The seat recline is one handed, which is wonderful, and is very easy to do while the baby is in the seat. The baby’s weight doesn’t make the seat fall back all at once, like it might in other strollers. The seat reclines almost flat, enough for napping, but not quite enough for a really young baby.
The handles of the Zippy are adjustable for taller or shorter parents, but it doesn’t make too much of a difference where they are to me. At 5′10, when the handles in the lowest position, it is comfortable for me to push.
I did experience some squeaking of the front wheels, but that is any easy fix.
Overall I really like this stroller, and so does my son. He is willing to sit in this stroller for quite some time, and that has never been the case before. Yes, it is a little heavy, but for a full sized stroller with so many features I think the weight is very reasonable. It combines all the features I was looking for, plus it looks good, is comfortable for my son, and folds up reasonably small. I would buy this stroller again in an instant, but don’t expect to need another one for a long time.
Poor quality and NOT compact stroller
Before you read further, let me sum up my complaints at the onset: Squeaky wheels, NOT compact, poor craftsmanship and quality (feels cheap), not easy to maneuver one handed through doorways. Don’t waste your money thinking this is a great stroller, I fell for the rave reviews only to be disappointed.
August 2009 I read the Cookie Magazine reviews on strollers and they gave the Inglesina Zippy very high marks for being compact, easy to maneuver and it’s one-handed fold up. When I went to purchase it online, I couldn’t find one in the color I wanted. The tan color was sold out. So I bought the baby jogger city mini stroller instead. The city mini is very compact and easy to maneuver but my one issue was it appeared to be too large for my 13 month old.
A couple weeks ago, not wanting to let go of my obsession with the Inglesina Zippy, I went searching and found the 2010 models were available in the color I wanted so I bought one. It arrived last week and I have used it 3 times - hate it and regret buying it! The wheels squeak and it’s obnoxious. I’m not typically bothered by noises but this one is annoying especially since the stroller is so new. The stroller is not easy to maneuver through doorways because the wheels get turned around, caught on themselves and it becomes awkward. The one handed close option? A joke! You need two hands because the stroller is NOT compact and closing it one handed requires the second hand to be available to lift it into the trunk. I drive a SUV and with the Inglesina Zippy folded up, it takes up the entire back part of the trunk space. Overall the craftsmanship is poor, appearing rickety and cheap. I don’t recommend this stroller. You can get a better product for your money with something else.
Lesson learned, just because it gets rave reviews doesn’t mean it’s a good stroller.

Best Stroller We’ve Ever Owned
We purchased our first zippy inglesina in 2004 when our first child was born.
That stroller lasted 6 years, through two children (boys) and over three continents of travel on approximately 30+ airline flights.
This new stroller now transports the latest edition to our family in his baby car seat. The new zippy inglesina has a functionally similar design to the old stroller, with improved look and feel.
We have owned a total of 6 strollers and/or joggers and this one is by far our favorite. It has held at least four different brands of baby car seats leading me to believe that it will hold any baby car seat.
The stroller opens and closes and can be driven with one hand, is sturdy, has enough room to transport all of our baby crap, yet collapses in to a relatively small bundle for transportation.
The new stroller has a smoother ride than the previous model - in the same way that my 2008 BMW has a smoother ride than my 2005 Acura.
I would recomend this stroller to anyone. It looks great, works great, and has been very reliable and handy for our family. Thank you, ZIPPY!
