I did not like the character of the Baroness Eleanor Parker played in “The Sound of Music,” but in this film, she is a sensitive and caring mother to her children and very attentive wife to the ailing father. Unless her singing roles are being dubbed by a voice-over, if that’s her singing, then I would wonder why she never pursued a singing career. I never heard of her in anything else but “The Sound of Music” so far.
Especially comic is the table-manner song performed by the inn keeper and the boys.
Again, for anyone fervent in Dutch culture, this film is for you.
