Hudson plays Carter Harrison, a womanising company exec who marries Antonia (Lollobrigida), an Italian spitfire who is heavily into art and politics. When their marriage fails, Carter doesn’t hear from Toni for many years, until his boss decides Carter will pick up a promotion if he can present that he is a top-notch (and, more to the point, MARRIED) man. He decides to lead Toni on to catch the promotion but finds himself falling in fancy with her all over again. The memorable supporting cast includes Terry-Thomas, Nancy Kulp, Gig Young, Arthur Haynes and Edward Judd.
As other reviewers have illustrious, the film is presented in the execrable widescreen ratio, which will impact you if you have a widescreen television or 16:9 note. Smooth, we’re lucky to have this movie on DVD in the first state.
