Season 7 quiet has enough excellent episodes and even some mammoth ones for it to be worthwhile viewing, but it is definitely the beginning of the kill. The season opener isn’t a standout as is normally the case, but it is estimable enough. Dan is tired of not having any privacy, and tells Roseanne that Ticket and Becky have to go, having been in the house since the previous Thanksgiving. At the destroy of the episode she tells Dan that she has told Sign and Becky that they have until May to score unique living quarters, and by the contrivance, she’s pregnant. Thus begins one of the longest pregnancies in the history of television - thirteen months plus the time Roseanne has been pregnant before she announces the news. The next bit of life changing information comes when Jackie discovers Darlene at a motel in the middle of the day. It seemed a bit peculiar that Jackie was “telling on” a girl that the Conners had basically emancipated the year before when the whole incident of Darlene and David actually living together came to light. However, it turns out that the boy with Darlene is not David, it’s a unique boyfriend - Jimmy. David says he is OK with it, but Roseanne is not and tells Darlene to compose a choice. She does - and dumps a heartbroken David. David employs first one strategy and then another to collect Darlene attend, but they honest backfire and further alienate her from him. Towards the waste of the season, David does travel on with his life and starts dating a girl that is not Darlene. This rouses some unexpected feelings on the section of Darlene, and she reconsiders her earlier decision on their romance. The whole state of the broken romance between David and Darlene is one of the best parts of the season.

The Halloween episode this year turns out to be superior. This episode involves a two-pronged joke aimed at Roseanne by the rest of her extended family. The first fraction involves suspicions being raised about Fred’s sexual orientation when he seems to know all of the guests at Leon’s Halloween party impartial a cramped too well. The second prong of the joke concerns a wig that appears to be identical to Roseanne’s mother’s hair, which makes her wonder if her mother might be bald and if it might be hereditary. “Rear Window” seemed like an episode from one of Roseanne’s earlier years in its mood and humor. This episode has two elderly neighbors who constantly hasten around unclothed in tubby belief of Dan and Roseanne’s bedroom. They are repulsed, yet they cannot recognize away. They finally determine to talk things over with their neighbors, but an argument ensues, and the only arrangement Roseanne can obtain her point is to do a miniature demonstration of her contain.

So far so kindly, and if the entire season had gone this scheme, it might even merit five stars. However, there are some troubling trends that started to emerge the previous season that continue to grow. Probably most prominent of these is the scream of showing men as being completely disposable except for the purpose of procreation. The worst example of this is the Thanksgiving episode in which Roseanne gets a message from her doctor that there may be something depraved with her pregnancy. Every time Dan tries to do or say anything, Roseanne screeches at him as to how this will be handled is totally her decision. Instead of treating Dan like a caring eager father who wants to befriend shoulder the load, she acts like he is some Red Region senator who is lecturing her. Her verbal abuse on this disclose even extends to D.J. Then there is the enlighten of Jackie and Fred. At mid-season Jackie begins to tire of Fred, going out for nights of dancing with another man. When this comes to light Fred understandably leaves. However, Jackie likes her new-found independence and seems genuinely disappointed when Fred wants to return home and give things another try. From that point on, she refers to him more like a nest of termites she can’t afford to exterminate than the husband she married less than a year before. In the extinguish, while the two are eating what is supposed to be a romantic dinner, Jackie tells him it is over. He rolls over and takes this decision with no further discussion, and subsequent seasons view no further mention of Fred - he’s not even mentioned again as being section of his son’s life. Thus Fred has fulfilled his purpose - having swam upstream to spawn, and having accomplished that mission, he evaporates like a daydream who was never even given the courtesy of a last name.

Jackie’s personality is an philosophize this season too. She slowly evolves from a luscious bundle of neuroses into a substandard between Barnie Fife and, when Bev is around, Norman Bates. You truly derive the feeling she wants the woman to die. There is one episode this season in which Bev and Jackie act like a normal mother and daughter sorting out years of afflict feelings and misunderstandings, but it is objective an island of humanity on both their parts in a sea of them both treating each other monstrously. Also, Becky and Imprint are behaving more like cartoon characters at this point than the fiery couple with the volatile romance that they were in seasons three and four. Price is behaving like comical relief to the point that you have to wonder what Becky even sees in this maroon, while Becky treats Price like she really doesn’t demand any more from life or him than this, which is strange when in high school she was such the super-achiever with ample dreams.

There are tranquil enough trustworthy episodes in this season for me to recommend it, but if you are a long-time viewer of Roseanne you’ll earn yourself scratching your head at many points during the season wondering - What was THAT?

A couple reviews have called this season the beginning of the slay. As I gape it, however, it’s more like the middle. The “beginning” of the destroy came about halfway through season five when Lecy Goranson hit the road, Roseanne’s ego started to surface more persistently, and the Conner family dynamic began changing. The prove started its decline benefit then, and with season seven there was unfortunately no turning aid to the glory days of the show’s first four years.

Season seven had its fragment of problems, but the biggest of them may have been the star herself. The lines between Roseanne Barr and Roseanne Conner were terribly blurred by this point. The working class heroine from the show’s early years had vanished. Barr was harsh, abrasive, and always screaming this season. That stuff worked beautiful early on because it wasn’t constant, and she managed to play Roseanne Conner with heart and a bit of humility (qualities that weren’t so apparent later on) .

Meanwhile, sitcoms that center on families always suffer as the kid’s age, so I don’t mind the fact that the family dynamic changed w/ Darlene and Becky both leaving the house (temporarily), but having David in the house full-time was a bit of a stretch. And having Effect and Becky recede in unbiased to own a void wasn’t notable either. Of course, had Goranson been playing Becky at the time, I may not have minded so remarkable. The horribly miscast Sarah Chalke was poor as Becky, merely saying her lines with no emotion or impact at all.

The heart of the explain was fair gone by this point, but I’ll maintain buying the DVDs to complete the collection.

While Tarzan was a moneymaker at MGM, with the outset of WWII, the studio felt Johnny Weissmuller was getting too customary, Maureen O’Sullivan wanted out of the series, and the overseas market was lost, so the series was dropped…but RKO would point to the Ape Man had a LOT of life left in him!

Producer Sol Lesser loved the character, and snapped up the rights, wisely keeping Weissmuller, 39, and ‘Boy’ Johnny Sheffield, at nearly 12, in their signature roles. ‘Jane’ was written out of the first two features (first caring for her mother, then serving in the war), and the best-loved elements (superhuman heroics, comedy from chimp co-star, Cheetah, wild animal footage) were ‘beefed up’, dropping the romance, the atmospheric murky ‘extras’, that provided authenticity (but were expensive for a smaller studio to fill), and the MGM ‘glossiness’. Even the Tarzan ‘yell’ had to be replaced (as the manufactured howl, share Weismuller, allotment studio magic), was the property of the studio; Weismuller created a ‘new’ one, that would become so current that it would be kept, long after he finally retired from the role.

The first RKO entry was perhaps the best of the series; TARZAN TRIUMPHS brought the Nazis into the jungle to tap the resources of a ‘lost’ city, kidnapping Boy, and leading the previously isolationist Ape Man to recount the celebrated effect line, “Now Tarzan design war!” With heavenly Frances Gifford as a native princess, and Sig Ruman, inviting from Marx Brothers’ foil to one of Hollywood’s busiest ‘Nazis’, as one of the villains, the film is very spirited (if extremely violent…Tarzan encourages the locals to grab a gun and demolish, Boy shoots one Nazi soldier with a pistol, and even CHEETA machine guns one!) .

TARZAN’S DESERT MYSTERY again offered Nazis (Otto Kruger, who’d played a similar role in Hitchcock’s SABOTEUR, a year earlier, and feeble veil baddie Joe Sawyer), an American girl magician (vivacious Nancy Kelly), and a chance to combine Nazi duplicity with an ‘Arabian’-themed adventure (which was a current genre during the war years) . Even a fantasy element was tossed in, as giant lizards and a mechanical spider ‘passing’ as ‘prehistoric’ appear in a ‘lost jungle’ climax.

TARZAN AND THE AMAZONS is closest in ’style’ to the earlier MGM ‘Tarzan’ films (offering a crocodile fight, a ‘classic’ safari with many more dark extras than in any other RKO ‘Tarzan’ feature of the era, friendly production values), and is most distinguished for introducing American Brenda Joyce, 33, as the current ‘Jane’, serve from the war. Blond and stunning, she lacked O’Sullivan’s lustrous ’spin’ to the role, but worked well with the 41-year-old Weissmuller, while providing a mother figure for ‘Boy’ that the ‘kid’ audience could report to. With a cast of terrific character actors (including Henry Stephenson, Maria Ouspenskaya, and Barton MacLane), and a space engrossing a ‘lost’ city of women, the film is one of the best-remembered RKO entries, and sizable fun!

TARZAN AND THE LEOPARD WOMAN marked the beginning of the decline of the RKO series; a routine, even comical record of a cult (dressed in cheesy leopard skins) and it’s high priestess (buxom Acquanetta) terrorizing the local population, and capturing Tarzan and his family. Memorable only for Cheeta saving Tarzan, yet again, and seeing ‘Boy’ Johnny Sheffield in the midst of puberty…

TARZAN AND THE HUNTRESS suffers from a crude budget and a ho-hum plot; entrepreneur Patricia Morison’s greedy crew extinguish a ‘lost city’ king to exceed their animal ‘quota’ for zoos, bringing out an aging Tarzan and startlingly adult-looking Boy; this would trace Sheffield’s last appearance in the role.

TARZAN AND THE MERMAIDS, Weissmuller’s final Tarzan appearance, is a truly surreal entry; filmed in Mexico, with musical interludes, the space features an Aztec temple complete with a ‘god’, and cliff-diving (in AFRICA??? ), and is best remembered for pleasing Linda Christian (Tyrone Power’s future bride), as a runaway native girl, and a musical obtain by legendary Dimitri Tiomkin. Weissmuller looks middle-aged and heavy, and would be replaced, in the next film, by young Lex Barker.

A mixed bag, to be definite, but immense fun, at it’s best, and certainly worth owning!

As Sean Connery is the definitive James Bond so goes for Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan. Now were at RKO Studios and Maureen O’Sullivan has left but Johnny Sheffield stayed on as ‘Boy’.

TARZAN TRIUMPHS 1943 Stars our princess Francis Gifford, known by all as JUNGLE GIRL in the Republic serial (1941-see my review) . Cheetah has a enormous bit at the slay. This is probably the best of the RKO series. Tarzan v.s. NAZIS allotment one.

TARZAN AND THE LEOPARD WOMAN 1946 OK escapism but you can insist all keen are getting weary.

TARZAN AND THE HUNTRESS 1947 Probably the weakest entry but….

TARZAN AND THE MERMAIDS 1948 The last of the Weissmuller Tarzans. The stand out here is Linda Christian, ZOWIE!!!!

As a footnote the next was TARZAN’S MAGIC FOUNTAIN with Lex Barker in 1949 with Brenda Joyce and Evelyn Ankers (WOLFMAN) and a graceful splendid Tarzan movie–maybe it will kick off the next collection (post Weissmuller Tarzan??? ) .

I absolutely savor Martin - the expose and Martin himself. This, to me, is the best season - each episode is hilarious and I really appreciate watching it. I really adore the fighting that goes on between Martin and Pam. They act like kids but retain coming up with astonishing insults.

I care for the episode Cole On Ice where Martin gets Charles Barkley to appear on his talkshow, yet Cole ruins it and Charles backs out. There is even a special episode where Tisha Campbell hosts ‘the best’ of Martin throughout the beginning to the 100 episode. There’s also the one where it’s Martins birthday and there is a video message to him from Halle Berry and Chris Rock.

I assume this is finally the season for the true comedy to shine through without some of the sillyness that previous seasons had. Now that I’m caught up on seasons 1-4, I’m hanging out for season 5 to be released. Can’t wait - this is a radiant note.

There have been 4 Jesse Stone novels by Robert Parker. And though Stone is 35 years obsolete in the first one, and in his mid 40s by now, Selleck takes and makes the role his have. He’s perfect in the role, and the whole production of this made for TV movie is top notch. there need to be more knowing mystery type shows like this around.

When it aired, there were early reports that Selleck was keen in doing more with the character. Perhaps a series of TV movies, or even a TV series. It aired on CBS, and fans of Spenser For Hire (when is that whole series coming to DVD? ) would admire to notice a regular weekly series. Personally, I don’t know how well it would contain up weekly. There are only 4 books out to despicable this on, compared to the more than a dozen when Spenser aired. But with the just scripts it could become a substantial weekly point to. And a hit. But CBS would probably aim for 21 episodes a season, which might strain the conception a itsy-bitsy.

But either design, this movie was grand. Fans of Parker,Selleck or honest a ample mystery should check it out.

Tom Selleck, Mimi Rogers, Viola Davis, and the rest the cast do an top-notch job in this made for TV movie based on the Robert Parker book. This fable of a Fresh England sheriff, Chief Jesse Stone, trying to collect a cool calculating serial killer is well crafted. As if that wasn’t enough he must accumulate those responsible for raping a girl. The book is a substantial read, and the movie does a dazzling job of following the key premises in the book. The directing by Robert Harmon is agreeable. I assume his previous work as a camera man has given him a astonishing insight in helping the audience search for and feel not only the characters clearly, but the surroundings as well.

Along with the huge job on the main case/story, the other cases/subplots were masterfully done giving a dependable feel of being there. This is one of the best TV movies I have seen in years. I applaud CBS for backing it. If you are an avid detective reader you should savor the book. Fans of detective movies or Tom Selleck should come by this one well to their liking. I am satisfied to say the DVD is first-rate. The characterize and sound are incredibly provocative. It includes a background of the movie with interviews of the cast and director. I was very gratified that Tom Selleck indicated that the success of this movie has started plans for a series of movies. I can’t wait to inspect the next one!

This movie is an astounding legend about a woman who learns to follow her heart. The chronicle starts out with Amy Meyer, (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) at age seven with her dying mother making a timeline for Amy’s life. Amy takes the timeline and follows through with everything on it, legal down to her mother’s prediction that she will have six boyfriends and that number seven will be “the one.” The peril is, Amy finds who she thinks is Mr. Apt is Daniel (Brad Rowe) who is only number six! So Amy must acquire a substitute boyfriend to stand in as number six so Daniel will be her seventh boyfriend. Talk about confusing!!! Amy gets Peter, (Patrick Dempsey) her “bagel man”, to play the fraction of boyfriend number six, only to regain herself falling for Peter. Now, with her heart being pulled in both directions, she must perform a decision that will change the course of her life forever. Peter tries to convince Amy to let go of the timeline and impartial do what her heart truly desires. Daniel unprejudiced wants her to focus on her career as a lawyer. The movie leaves to wandering until the very demolish, which one she will decide. This movie is also the ultimate Romantic Comedy! I loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves to peek, love-always-wins-out-in-the-end, and having-the-girl-wind-up-with-the-perfect-guy! I hope you appreciate this movie as worthy as I did!

I happened upon this film on TV one night, and only caught the last hour but it got my attention- When I saw that is was available on DVD I had to order it because if the first half was a great as the second half that I had seen, then this was a keeper! Well, obvious enough the entire movie is delicious! The characters are legal to life and any movie with Patrick Dempsey is worth my time- If you devour those primitive romantic comedies of the 40’s, this has some of those qualities- I have now watched this movie about 10 times, and never tire of it. When I need a select, this movie always does the job! A really sweet film…give it a try, you might like it…

Between 1999 and 2003, the novel sci-fi television series “Farscape” was aired on the Sci-Fi Channel in the U.S. Filmed in Australia primarily by Jim Henson Productions with assistance from several Australian production companies and some funding from the Sci-Fi Channel, the series developed a strong following and was under contract for a total of five seasons. On the contrary, thanks to Brian Henson’s efforts (which included directing the mini-series himself), “Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars” was a improbable, titillating and grand conclusion for one of the best sci-fi television series that has ever been produced.

Seamlessly beginning where the final fourth-season episode ended, all of the cast members from the final fourth season returned in “Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars”. This includes the no-nonsense Earth astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder), his fiancée Peacekeeper Aeryn Sun (Claudia Shaded), Ka D’Argo (Anthony Simcoe), Chiana (Gigi Edgley), Rygel XVI (sigh of Jonathan Hardy), ‘Pilot’ (stutter of Lani John Tupu), Scorpius/Harvey (Wayne Pygram), Sikozu Shanu (Raelee Hill), Joolushko Tunai Fenta Hovalis (Tammy McIntosh), Stark (Paul Goddard), Utu-Noranti Pralatong (Melissa Jaffer), Skarin Emperor Staleek (Duncan Young), Skarin War Minister Akhna (Francesca Buller), Peacekeeper Commandant Mele-on-Grayza (Rebecca Riggs), Peacekeeper Captain Meeklo Braca (David Franklin), Ka D’Argo’s son Jothee (Nathaniel Dean) and wormhole alien dubbed ‘Einstein’ (John Bach) .

With sparkling special effects, agreeable direction, an lively & consistent situation and superior acting, I rate “Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars” with a resounding 5 out of 5 stars and very highly recommend it to all “Farscape” fans. Some of the many memorable scenes in “Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars” include Rygel’s efforts to attend restore John & Aeryn and the subsequent consequences, the various battle scenes both in region and on the ground, John’s solution to war, and the birth. Many thanks go to Brian Henson and the many fantastic actors and film crew that brought “Farscape” encourage to life. On a side price, Ben Browder has received four Saturn Award nominations from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Alarm Films, of which he won one in 2002 for “Best Actor in a Television Series”.

We all know the drill. JC, astronaut, is shot through a wormhole and joins up with a crew of a ship, a living ship, as they blast through state one season at a time. Along the draw they bustle into multiple baddies, raze a wide array of bases, depositories, and even a few civilizations, and they also become something of a family. Sometimes that makes for humor, sometimes for seasons of sadness, and sometimes for thrilling adventure.

Such is Farscape.

For those who don’t know about the series all that well, it is one of the few I’d tout as a complete product that can’t be hyped enough. Following the exploits of John C. and the crew was a thrilling whirlwind to choose piece in because it evoked so many emotions and rewarded you, the viewer, for riding shotgun through the wormhole. You saw the transitions from character introduction plots and awkward travels to the becoming of crew labelled with words like “notoriety,” “infamy,” and a message filled with the hope for a better tomorrow. You even had the “dinky things” handed to you, from references to brushing teeth and how alien lifeforms could communicate, and you got it all with an Earth twist. Personally I’ve never pulled for “the trustworthy guy” before, not really one to touch foul with the cliche characters in most shows, but the crew of Moya was different. They actually touched me with their plights and the ways they could always turn a poor station into something worse and calm advance out alive, and I found myself addicted to it by the kill of Season Two. That all seemed to near to an abrupt ruin when the ride was pulled on the series, though, and many people weren’t blissful with the cliffhanger ending. So, amidst a flurry of sigh and the knowledge that Farscape sells, the Peacekeeper Wars was born.

Vaguely commenting, the storyline picks factual up where we left off, taking into consideration a few things I didn’t believe of and setting off a war that everyone watching knew was going to advance. You could smell it brewing, the Scarrans threatening too many people and Scorpius standing too finish to that slay, and when it falls it falls beautifully. I was actually taken by all the digital appreciate the series was shown in this miniseries, disturbed in a blueprint by the amount of currency I saw circulating in those sparkling ship battles, and I loved it. Added to this is the continuation of the story of the main characters, with even Rygel getting a limited news of home and the promise of things to advance. And those these comments have to be vague, I can say with certainty that the storyline flowed and wasn’t forced. If you liked the series, you’ll cherish the taste of this brew as well, with all its emotional kicks in tow.

One other thing to heed in all of this is that EVERYONE was abet and taking portion in this legend portion. I’m not talking about the crew and the main biggies, either, but I’m instead filtering through the “puny guys” and happily noting their faces. Bracca, possibly one of my favorites, is joined by an array of people that hold share in the series, again rewarding people that were perhaps wondering where they’d all gone. By and titanic, it is a complete situation of faces to savor (and without that “guest plot” taste) .

So, in a nutshell, pick this BUT ONLY if you’ve kept up with the series. If not, it would be akin to reading the final chapter in a book and trying to taste the textures. To those who wanted it, though, it has approach and it felt genuine to have more. By the frelling gods, I’m peaceful pumped up from seeing it.

Well, for once I will not carve corners around this review, this film must be watched by everyone. It could quite possibly be the most well-done anime of all time.

Now, 50 years later, Rintaro, another well-known name in anime has decided to develop an film from the novel manga, sparing no inconvenience or expense.

We rep Metropolis in the throes of a celebration. Duke Red has completed the Ziggurat, an immensely astronomical building whose central tower conceals a solar weapon that will acquire the city the capital of the world, and Duke Red its ruler. There are some key elements to identifying a poorly made film be it television or broad screen: Over spend of very cessation up shots, jerky camera activity, comical post production effects, third rate actors, amature CGI, childish script, positive amature production quality (lighting, unfounded rain machines, etc), unpleasant acting, action sequences that bore the viewer, incorherent epic lines, rediculous computer input sceens with people typing 300 words per limited while talking. That said, The Storm is a rare production. It embraces, with reckless abandon, all of the elements of a rank movie. Bordering on parody, The Storm is almost unwatchable. Treat Williams, the dreadful man’s Harrison Ford, leads a pedestrian cast of hacks sleep walking through this long, very long, two hour (with ads) movie. Needless to say you sould skip this one. If you do rent or, dare I say, hold this POS, I can promise you will want to withhold the remote handy for fleet forwarding whole segments.

I watched this when it was on NBC and it was heavenly poor. With the exception of Treat Williams and David James Elliott, I was wondering who those others were advertised as stars. Being I’m not a teenager is probably why I didn’t know them. The split conceal scenes are over done. There are not unprejudiced 2 scenes at one time but 3 or 4. Add to that the advertisements for NBC’s topple shows along the bottom and it was a confusing mess to look. I know those ads will not be on the DVD. Van Der Beek is stone faced thoughout the movie and in my personal idea a abominable actor. I am not distinct who Teri Polo was but a friend told me they opinion she was the news woman killed in the first hour in a cheap rip off of the shower scene in Psycho. Treat Williams is wonderful in the movie but he does ham it up at times. If you like this type of movie you might like this one. I must confess that I only watched it as I am a JAG fan and watched to scrutinize David James Elliott who had a puny role as the Army General. NBC heavily advertised that he was in the movie so it was disappointing to observe his role so dinky. If you are a fan of his unprejudiced eye the trailer and you will sight about half of his scenes. The place has been done before in other movies made for TV. This one is overall not very new.

Mention this title today to anyone and they will reflect you’re joking. Who really would have ever made a movie called THEY SAVED HITLER’S BRAIN? … well, I’ve seen the movie, and I have the DVD now, and I level-headed don’t know who would have made this kind of movie… but here it is. Started in the 1950’s and completed by a few UCLA students in the 1960’s and then finally released to the world, T.S.H.B. is considered by many to be the legal “worst movie ever made”. Does it rob any insist from Conception NINE? Oh yes, this is indeed a unpleasant movie all around… yet made by experienced people. The 1960’s additional scenes assist merely as exposition, filling in the missing details and information and star a Young Ron Jeremy type working with the CID, who is partnered with a Well-Fed Alicia Silverstone wannabe dressed as a ready and able (and seemingly willing) school girl (who is perhaps the best actor in the 60’s footage) who drives a beat up VW Bug. They are not in it for long, and are in fact killed off… grand surprise. As for the rest of the movie… it’s a trial. Painful. A good test of will… can you sit through it? RHINO has done a first-rate job with the transfer and actually has added perhaps one of the best, and funniest, antimated menu’s I’ve ever seen on any DVD. It features the head of Hitler spouting some unintelligable German. His eyebrows travel, his mouth, and his head dances around when he talks… very strange, but lay down humorous. I recommend this movie, and I recommend buying this DVD if only to mark your friends that you actually hold something called… THEY SAVED HITLERS BRAIN.

Oh what a hoot. I’m giving this film 5 stars for a different reason. Movies that are so dreadful they are ‘good’ originate my day. ‘Cat Women of the Moon’, ‘Plan 9 from Outer Space’, and ‘Robot Monster’ all have a obvious charm that exceeds the trusty film. ‘They saved Hitler’s Brain’ is another such movie. I give it 5 stars when thrown on with other illustrious awful movies, it holds it’s acquire. It has everything a awful movie fan could want. An inane dwelling, mediocre acting at best, and the over the top ‘not so special’ effects.

A puny Carribean Island called Manduras is a hideout for Nazis who want to hold over the world. And why shouldn’t they try again? Der Fuhrer is among them as a head in a glass jar. Guess that’s where Matt Groening got the belief for his wonderful ‘Futurama’ cartoon prove. Listening to the petite Hitler head in the glass jar barking out orders is fair a hoot. I also loves how he honest moves his eyes from side to side looking all obnoxious and stuff.

My two accepted scenes are the car wander and hotel fight. The car stagger is lawful out of the mind of Ed Wood. They initiate driving in daylight, then the headlights are on in the dusky, then at the wreck, it’s light again. Intelligent! It’s too awful that agent died. With that hair and mustache he looked like Sony Bono meets Journey’s Steve Perry. His very appearance was pure camp. Then you got the hotel scene. She hits the scandalous guy with the lamp. How could she be so listless?

A lot of people will say how powerful they admire the “Hitler head melting” scene. Distinct it’s wintry, but you have 92 minutes of pure hilarity to relish before the ample climax.

OK, I was originally going to give this a worthy lower star rating, but didn’t want people to improper it as a negative review of the film itself, because it isn’t, the film is a Titanic martial arts film. My grievous rating is the DVD itself. First thing I noticed is that the subtitles neglected to subtitle the words in the beginning credits. Now I’m not talking about the names, I’m talking about the first paragraph after the names fair after you study him practicing Flit Chun, which tells the audience about the city and how it’s known for being the origin of China’s Nan Tian style of martial arts. And for that reason, it attracts martial artists from all over China to set dojos and to exchange martial arts culture. It goes on to say that today Fuoshan (the town in the film where Ip Man is from) have become known as “THE TOWN” of martial arts. If you can’t read Chinese, you won’t know what that entire paragraph reads, and that’s unimaginative because it’s kind of indispensable to the narrative.

The second thing I noticed is how unpleasant the quality was. It’s not so awful that it’s unwatchable, but it’s FAR worse than most DVD’s I’ve owned.

Then the thing that made me halt watching this was the audio. For some reason they decided they didn’t like the new audio stream and replaced it. But the first thing you’ll observe is the volume. It’s EXTREMELY coarse, you’ll have to crank your system all the design up if you are to hear anything.

Then the next thing you’ll recognize is the dreadful syncing of the lips and of the fighting sound effects. The reason for this isn’t apparent to those who don’t know Chinese. But I do, I understand some Cantonese, which is a dialect of Chinese spoken most commonly by the “favorite” people, mainly from Canton. That is the language most of the people allege in this movie, except the Japs of course and those fighters from the North who spoke Mandarin. However, this is the reason why they redid the entire audio stream including the sound effects. They changed the audio from Cantonese to all Mandarin. I don’t know why, perhaps this version was printed in China and they mediate Mandarin the “official” dialect and kind of peer down on Cantonese, Hakka, and other Chinese dialects.

To those who don’t know the dissimilarity, this sucks because now the audio is too soft and the syncing is awful (you stare a hit, then hear it, or vice versa) and they neglected to add serve in some of the slight verbal gestures Chinese people are known to construct (like going “mmm” instead of actually saying yes, they did this in the unusual movie, but they omitted a lot of it in this print, instead, it’s unbiased silence) .

But to those who understand Chinese, it also sucks because it takes the authenticity away since the film’s locale’s native language is Cantonese, so in actual life, they would have been speaking Cantonese, not Mandarin, and people know this. That’s why they had the inhabitants of this city speaking Cantonese and the fighters from the North that came down to challenge them spoke Mandarin. That is how it was and that is how they wanted to record it. Now everyone spoke Mandarin and it’s pleasing annoying.

Either that or the Cantonese audio stream is so jarbled that I don’t understand it. All I know is that when I first watched this movie, I understood almost all of it since I know Cantonese. When I bought this DVD, I couldn’t understand any of it and had to expend the subtitles… Not to mention I could barely hear it.

I don’t know, the movie is a gargantuan movie, it is kind of like Mettlesome, but a miniature more historically right, Gallant was VERY erroneous in terms of historical accuracy, this was a bit better, but the fighting is very different because this is Cruise Chun, which is purely a stop range fighting technique, which is where almost all fights slay up anyhow so it’s also the most practical of all martial arts in my idea. You will almost NEVER accept into a street fight where your opponent will end a leg’s length away from you so you can do Tae Kwon Do style kicks at them. That is completely unrealistic and irregular to competition style fighting. In true fights, your opponent will tend to want to finish the distance any chance he gets. So Soar Chun which focuses on conclude in, short arm fighting is perfect for that.

I suggest you notice this film, but I really would like to procure a better print than this one, I know it exists because I’ve seen it not too long ago, a friend had it, but he doesn’t have the box or anything and doesn’t know what version it is.
