Customer Reviews:

Great for the price!5
For an in the ground basketball goal this is a great buy. It took me and my father about 3 hours to put it together. Instructions were adequate. It would have been easier if the larger pieces were labeled. I highly suggest buying the in Lifetime Ground Sleeve for 3.5 Inch Round Poles. It made installation easier and I can now remove the goal if we ever move or if a hurricane is coming.

I went to Lowes and bought a cardboard cement tube, four 80 pound bags of concrete, and four two foot pieces of rebar. I put the ground sleeve in the concrete per the instructions and let it sit for a few days before installing the goal into the sleeve.

I would say the biggest knock on this system is the backboard itself. I am sure the polycarbonate backboard will hold up fine, but it is just very thin.

The goal adjusts heights really really easy and that is a great thing for growing kids.

Good Value5
Shipment for my original order was damaged by UPS. Amazon took care of it by shipping it by FedEx and it arrived in two days. I got it installed and its a good value for what I paid for. I would recommend this product.

Super!5
Seems to be good quality - took 2 men to put it together, which was expected. Hoping it holds up in Michigan winters. Very pleased, my grandson is exstatic over it! Highly recommended.

Amazon.com Product Description
Hone your jumpshot in your spare moments or perform a backyard dunking drill with the Lifetime 71799 in-ground basketball goal. Designed for permanent installations in cemented driveways, the 71799 includes such features as a Shatter Guard backboard, a spring-back Slam-It Rim, and an Action Grip pole mechanism for speedy height changes.

The goal’s sturdiness stems from the cement-ready base, which is more rigid and takes up less space than portable basketball goals (it does require roughly 72 hours of cement drying time, however). The clear 50-inch Shatter Guard backboard, meanwhile, is made of Makrolon polycarbonate, which is virtually unbreakable and 30 times stronger than acrylic. As a result, broken backboards are a thing of the past, even from errant rocks and other non-basketball threats. In addition, the board offers a UV coating that prevents yellowing over time, a high-impact polyethylene frame, and screen-printed inks for fade-resistant color.

Lifetime knows that dunking and above-the-rim play are a huge part of modern basketball, which is why the 71799 also comes with both a height adjustment mechanism and a spring-back rim. The three-piece, 3.5-inch Action Grip pole includes counter-balance springs that make it easy to raise or lower the rim from 7-1/2 to 10 feet in 6-inch increments without requiring a broomstick, crank, or other tool. Thanks to the Action Grip technology, players of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the game on their own terms, while aspiring dunkers can gradually raise the level 6 inches at a time as their vertical improves. The orange Slam-It Rim, meanwhile, is designed specifically for players who like to throw down. The orange solid-steel rim features double-compression springs that give way during dunks to protect the player, then spring back once released. The rim is also supported by 1/2-inch braces, with welded-steel net hooks and an all-weather nylon net.

The 71799, which is protected by a powder-coated, weather-resistant finish, comes with a five-year warranty.

Amazon.com Basketball System Buying Guide
With the high-quality construction of many portable basketball systems, turning your driveway into a basketball court can be as simple as hooking up your garden hose. But while a portable system may ultimately be your best choice, there are reasons you may want to consider an in-ground or wall-mount system before you decide.

In-Ground Systems
In-ground systems are permanently cemented into the ground–either via a bolt mounting kit or directly into the ground–and are generally more rigid and take up less space than portables. In-ground systems often require that you hire a professional to complete the task, but when the cement dries you’ll have a hoop that can take punishing dunks with ease.

Many in-ground systems are height-adjustable, include removable post features that let you take the system down for off-season storage, and feature heavy-duty break-away rims. You’ll also want to research the adjustable mechanisms on the systems, as there are several types to choose from. Some feature a counter-balance spring that lets you perform easy, one-hand adjustments while others may feature a sturdy, pneumatic system.

Wall-Mount Systems
Wall-mount systems can be mounted to the side of a house, a tall retaining wall, or a garage. Generally sturdier than portables, wall-mounts have the added advantage of optimizing your existing ground space for the court, since you won’t take any space up with the base or pole. Not all systems include the necessary hardware, so make certain you add a mounting kit to your list.

Portable Systems
Portable systems require minimal installation and offer ultimate convenience. These systems generally feature a base that can be filled with sand or water to stabilize them and include wheels for portability. Although they are not as sturdy as in-ground or wall-mounted hoops, portables are simple to set up and can often be folded for convenient storage.

Backboard Considerations
Regardless of which system you choose, you’ll want to brush up on Backboards 101. Most residential systems feature backboards made of acrylic, fiberglass, graphite, or various other composite materials. While clear acrylic gives the professional look and feel of glass, it is not as rigid as fiberglass or graphite. Some systems may offer steel or aluminum backboards, which are virtually vandal resistant, but don’t offer the true rebounding action.

The regulation size of an NBA backboard is 72 inches wide and 42 inches high. Most portable hoops are 42 or 44 inches wide and 36 inches tall. In-ground systems tend to be a bit larger, with 54-inch and 60-inch widths being the most popular. While rectangular shaped backboards provide more bank shot opportunities, they are generally more expensive than the streamlined fan-shaped board.

Well worth the money!5
I ordered the Agile resistance bands through Amazon. Shipping was easy. I ordered the bands on a Sunday evening and they arrived at my door by Wednesday. Packaged perfectly and looked exactly like the photo. Ok so, I also purchased the P90X system. I know, this is not a review for P90X but I will tell you that if you are even considering P90X ….it is the bomb! If you have watched the television and wondered if those people were real and if you could get in shape in 90 days I will tell you YES, it is true. Anyway, I picked up P90X and needed to get some bands. Mainly because I did not think it was worth going out and buying a whole weight set nor did I want to purchase the items off the P90X website. So, I came to “old faithful” Amazon and researched resistance bands. I saw quite a few for various prices but since I am a simple guy who was not looking to be “Big Swole” or get outrageous muscles , I figured a nice pair of sensible resistance bands would do the trick. I was right! These bands have stayed strong with me throughout my tenure of the P90X system. I am still in the beginning of my P90X workout but the bands are holding strong. I did read one review where the guy stated the bands broke on him while working out. Well, if you are “overly” macho and go crazy with the bands, I can see that happening after-all, it’s a rubber band what do you expect? Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you. Don’t overdo it and use the bands for their intended purpose. If you are considering purchasing the bands or P90X, I say go for it. YMMV…NEOSOUL06

Finally! A Super heavy resistance band!5
I’m wrapping up the P90X program for the first time and was desperately searching for a heavier resistance band. I travel a lot so alternatives to dumbbells are a must. I also prefer bands to freestyle pull-ups due to rotator cuff issues on the extension. I had been using bands form Nike with a woven sheaf. They work better as a depilatory aid than a work out band- the weave grabs hair and yanks it out! These bands have great handles, good resistance and even better elasticity. That really helps when you want to back up on the band to use tension to add even more resistance. Highly recommended!

Awesome Bands5
I bought these bands for the P90X program. They were working great, until the medium band broke two days ago. I got on the Agile Fitness website and asked how I could buy a single replacement band instead of the whole four pack. Yesterday, I got a message from their customer service representative that they would just send me a replacement. Overall, a great product and excellent customer care. Thank you Agile!!

Customer Reviews:

Victorinox Beats Wenger In Quality5

I am somewhat of an unqualified expert on the Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, I currently own 4 of them, and one Wenger Executive. If you are going back and forth debating which is better, in my experience the Victorinox is superior in blade quality and construction. The Wenger knives have more “wiggle” in the blade and just don’t feel as solid.

The Silver Alox Soldier is a fine looking knife. I really prefer the look and style to any other Swiss Army red or black. It feels heavier, and the handle material isn’t going to chip or crack. Good enough to put in your back or front pocket without being too heavy, and a nice mix of tools. I also have the Silver Alox Harvester, which is the same knife with a sawblade added. You wouldn’t think it would make much of a difference, but the Soldier is noticeably lighter in your pocket, so if weight is a big deal for you and you can sacrafice the sawblade, this knife would be ideal for you.

Best Swiss Army Knife Ever Made5
In my opinion, this is the best Swiss Army knife ever made. It is the sturdiest of all the knives, and has only the necessary tools. Perfect for camping/backpacking, and as a gift to friends and family.

PROS:

-The knife blade is longer and thicker (sturdier) than the knife blades on other Swiss Army knife models.
-Aluminum Handles. The classic red plastic handles on the other models will eventually crack and fall off after a few years of regular use. The aluminum sides on this knife will never break, and they offer superior grip.
-Compact and Lightweight.
-It’s the official army knife of Swiss soldiers, so it must be good!

CONS:

1. The reamer may not be very useful for many people. However, it has many other uses if you get creative.

Another absolute gem5
I bought this knife to replace an older one that I “lost” at an airport security check (forgot to empty that pocket at home.)

It appears to be exactly the same knife as the Swiss Army Pioneer Pocket Knife, which I also bought (”just to see…”), except that this one has a key ring.

They are both absolute gems, each has a small variety of tools that are extremely useful and is not overloaded with “fun” stuff that just add to the weight and awkwardness. The metal is hard & sturdy enough that you can really do some prying without damaging the blades, the knife blade is sharp and will hopefully stay that way for a while (good metal), the can-opener works well, the shape of the small screwdriver lets you wriggle it into the smallest of openings to do the pry thing, and the blade remains un-nicked so continues to work well as a screwdriver afterward.
Also, the handle is metal, not plastic, so I can carry it (for years?) in the same pocket with my keys, with no chipping or loosening of the side plates. A very good design! and I’m grateful that the Company continues to make such a useful piece, when they undoubtedly earn a lot more profit from the big, fancy, multi-mega-bladed tools - which may be good in a toolbox, but not in a pocket!

Amazon.com
From the renowned company that created the Swiss Army knife a century ago comes this complete set of all-purpose handy tools–all neatly contained in a single implement that measures just 3-1/2 inches (91 millimeters) long. Sheathed in silver, the Soldier is a convenient toolbox small enough to fit into a pocket. A valued companion, this pocket knife contains seven stainless-steel tools and carries a lifetime warranty against defects. The tools include a large knife blade, can opener, small screwdriver, bottle opener, large screwdriver, wire stripper, and reamer.

The Soldier includes a large knife blade, can opener, small screwdriver, bottle opener, large screwdriver, wire stripper, and reamer.

Soldier Tools:

  • Large blade
  • Can opener
  • Small screwdriver
  • Bottle opener
  • Large screwdriver
  • Wire stripper
  • Reamer

About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener’s mother, and “inox,” or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.
