A Garmin with just the basic features
If you’re looking for a Garmin with basic GPS functions, you may want to consider the nuvi 1300.
It works as advertised, but is missing a lot of features found in other GPS models for a lot less cash. A traffic receiver is available from Garmin for a $118, however check out other Garmin models which have this receiver included. A speed limit sign is not available in this model, but can be found on the 1350, $50 more than this one. A USB cable which is inexpensive to buy, should have been included.
Bluetooth is another recommended feature. In the 1300 series, you have to go up to the 1370T model to get both Bluetooth and traffic receiver included–at an additional $200 over the price of the 1300!
A more sensible solution would be to go to another Garmin model like the 265WT which includes: (1) FM traffic receiver, (2) USB cable, (3) Bluetooth compatibility, and (4) Speed limit info. The 265WT is currently on Amazon for $30 LESS than the 1300 but loaded with all these features and latest mapping software.
Yes, the nuvi 1300 works as advertised, but is just not the value GPS that you can find in other models.
Nice, but lack of key accessories frustrating
I agree with the previous reviewer: it is way cheap that Garmin doesn’t include a USB cable with the unit. However, mine came with instructions (and was very easy to set up, much easier than my previous Garmin, a nuvi 360) and found my current location quickly and accurately.
There are a few notable improvements I’ve found so far as compared to the Garmin 360–(1) the touch screen is much more responsive and accurate (2) there seem to be more POI (though, of course, there are still locations that are not listed) (3) there are lots of extra features like the ecoroute thing, which allows you to track your gas mileage and the cost of driving from 1 location to another.
As far as the negatives, the lack of accessories is the biggest problem. Ironically, if you want to register your product to get a 10% discount on accessories, you have to have the USB cord accessory so that their website can recognize your nuvi. This is not going to bode well for the number of people who will register their Nuvi 1300s, and I assume Garmin will come up with some solution to this in the future (i.e.–a way to register without connecting the nuvi to your computer). When I called Garmin, they promised to send me a USB cord for free, so that might be something to try.
Overall, great GPS with a few small problems.
What in the world is with all the complaining?? This is a fantastic little GPS.
Ugh. I cannot believe people are making such a hoopla about the omission of a $3 USB cable. I realize that whole $3 argument works both ways, but why in the world people are making such a big deal out of it, is beyond me. I mean you barely USE the dang thing, not to mention the fact that you probably have one around the house already! I sometimes think people just LOOK for a reason to complain.
Anyway, on to the review:
First of all, I have the 1300T, which is identical except it includes lifetime traffic. That being said, I have had this going on a month now and find it to be one of the best, if not THE best GPS Vehicle Nav I have come across. I have several handhelds of various names, but in sticking with the scope of this review, I will only mention my previous experience with the vehicle GPS units.
I’ve had just about every brand name of GPS unit in search of the “perfect” one. Up until now, the closest I came was with a Nuvi 350 when it was first released in 05, which I foolishly sold as I wasn’t using it as much as I had originally thought. Back then, GPS Nav was a nicety and not nearly as “big” as it is today. Since then, I’ve had units from Magellan, Cobra, Finedrive (Ugh!), Whistler, TomTom, Mio(My favorite TeleAtlas based brand) and Navigon. All had their plusses and minuses but, never really hit that sweet spot. With the exception of one small detail, the 1300 FINALLY gets it.
I can’t tell you how happy I am to be back to a Navtech based device. While TeleAtlas certainlny has come a long way, it’s still not as accurate as Navtech. I still have two of my TeleAtlas based units(Mio and TomTom) and have done a series of comparisons between the 1300 and the others, with the 1300 being the most accurate. The Navigon actually has free map updates and is running the very latest maps, but still falls short in comparison.
The routing alogarythim is also much better in this unit than with rest. With the exception of the Nuvi 350, of course, which routes very similar to the 1300. That’s not to say, there are no routing flaws. All GPSes have flaws, and this is no different. However, the strange routes are far less than with my previous units.
And last, but not least: Appearance. Good lord this thing is gorgeous! The map display is top notch and looks great scrolling through whatever road I may be on. I know this doesn’t really matter to some, but for those who like good looking graphics, this is the unit for you!
Also, I HIGHLY suggest looking for the 1300T, or ponying up for the add-on lifetime traffic kit for the base 1300. That is if you live in an urban area and are affected by traffic on your commute. This has saved me TONS of time, as people around here can’t seem to drive through a simple tunnel without crashing daily! I will point out, however, the free lifetime traffic does come at a small cost. There are unobtrusive ads(hotels mostly) at the bottom of the screen when on the traffic menu. These only show when not moving and are quite small. Definitely not something to get in a fuss over, but thought I’d point it out.
The only thing I would change about this model(and the whole Garmin vehicle line) is the ability to better control your detours. On my previous TomTom, Magellan, Navigon and Cobra, I could tell it how far to reroute and in some instances, choose the route. Garmin just gives you one Detour and that’s it. Sometimes even putting you back on the same road a few miles up. This isn’t as much of a problem with the traffic module, as it automagically routes you around the traffic. But it would still be nice to have more tweakability.

HotFix Satellite Prediction
Garmin’s HotFix capability automatically calculates and stores satellite locations, greatly reducing satellite acquisition time so that you can turn the unit on and get going. great sound for the price.
People tend to be critical and snobbish about audio equipment in all of it’s forms.
I have been very pleased with these headphones.
Some other reviews have stated that these headphones grip their noggin a bit too tight, well I have a pretty good sized dome - 7&7/8 hat size - and it fits snug, but not overly so.
The tone quality is better than average, the bass doesn’t distort and the treble doesn’t buzz.
I know there are better headphones on the market, but for listening to music that is in an MP3 format - those high-end phones aren’t necessarily going to provide much more sound quality.
for reference: I use these to listen to metal, electronica, jazz, classical, and spoken word.
Nice but stiff on the ears
These headphones have a funky design that gets noticed. I work in an office and had several looks that read, “2nd childhood, eh?” The sound is great though. I almost felt like a hearing patient who first gets his aids put in. The old set I had were the typical cheap ones that come with a new computer. For a reasonable price, these step you up to solid stereo quality. They also have a good solid feel to them. These won’t break or short out quickly. My one minor grip is they feel stiff on the ears. When I’m done using them, I usually have to rub my ears for a few seconds, because they feel hot, stiff, and slightly sweaty. Not sure if this is because of slightly off fitting, or I’m just not use to the over-the-ears style. Bottom-line: Very solid, quality headphones for the price, with a slightly stiff fit.
Stylish, but…
the terrible plastic holding together the $60 pair I bought broke in several places, less than a month after the purchase. This has happened with every Skull-Candy product I have tried after taking fantastic care of each pair. Very cheaply made, not even close to being worth the price asked.
Several of my friends were drawn in as well by the bright colors and stylish graphics, and they all tell the same story. Every pair is cheaply made. I don’t know anyone who has lasted more than a few months with Skull Candy headphones.
If you want to look cool for about a month, then these are the headphones for you. But if you’re looking for something that will stay put together for more than a few weeks when you’re walking around from place to place, you could do a heck of a lot better with almost any $20 pair.

Didn’t work
I saw that this battery was around 1/2 the price of the Apple-branded battery, and it had a few positive reviews on Amazon.com, so I thought I’d give it a shot. It arrived promptly, but when I put it in place and went to charge it, the charge would not go above 26%. I took it to my local Apple store, and he confirmed through diagnostics that it was a bad battery. He then proceeded to give me a new battery at no charge (I was buying an iMac at the time). Score: Apple 1, Agptek/Amazon 0.
Also, the promised thumb drive never arrived.
Perfect replacement for the price!
I have been leery of purchasing an off-brand battery replacement. After doing some homework and discovering that others have experienced poor fitting batteries and coloring issues, I took a chance on this battery, given that the (albeit few) reviews had been positive.
I’m very pleased with the final product. Seller ships quickly, and after nearly a month of use, I have found the difference in battery life to be insignificant in comparison to the Apple OEM battery. Considering I paid half as much for essentially the same performance, I’m one happy camper.
Like a charm
An affordable, reliable battery. have had mine for a while now, and it still gives me more charge than i remember the stock mac battery ever having. My old macbook pro battery still holds a charge, but only about a quarter of this thing. So i still use both when im having a long day of class. Regardless, this battery is about half the price of the OEM macbook pro battery, and if you are on a budget, don’t be afraid of the product that costs less. In fact, apple doesn’t even make its own batteries, they are produced by a third party. So, get this battery, you wont be disappointed.

Excellent Cables, but Large Connectors
The cables are very good and since they are flexible, they work very well with my entertainment center. The only problem is the cables extra wide because of the strain relief attached to the connector ends of the cable. Since the connectors are extra wide, I cannot attach these side by side on my HDMI video switch. My TV stacks the HDMI connectors instead of placing them side by side and these cables are fine when stacked. So if you have your HDMIs side by side, you may want to think twice when ordering, but if you have your HDMIs stacked, these cables are awesome.
HDMI cables are all the same, but this one will actually last.
Yes, all HDMI cables are all the same in theory — they send 1s and 0s across the cable and you either get the picture, or you don’t.
However, I have noticed with some of my cheaper cables that the physical quality of the cable degrades over time. One of my cheapo cables ($2.99) had the rubber boot of the plug come off because it was cheaply made. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have a cable that will actually last when I unplug it from the TV.
So I was on the hunt to buy a cable that was “monster quality” for cheap. Monster has great cables, but they’re not with the price for what you get. I found HDMI King had pretty cheap cables, and this one fit the bill. It actually had sleeving, rubber covers for the plugs (that don’t come off!) and plastic covers for the ends so they don’t get dirty.
It works just like any other HDMI cable does, but I don’t have to worry about carrying spares because this one will actually last. If you plan on plugging in your devices to the TV once and never moving it, just buy whatever HDMI cable is cheap, because they’re all the same.
I wanted quality so I went with HDMI King’s Imperial cable, which is Monster quality without the Monster price.
Durable? Not mine…
I recently purchased this HDMI cable to compliment my new Blu Ray player. Withing a few days, the picture and sound quality that was once perfect, degraded to several issues. The video and sound continuously cut in and out. Upon closer inspection, the weight of the cable itself caused the end to loosen. I contacted Fanatic Digital, assuming that they would honor their warranty. I e-mailed them two weeks ago with no response. During that span, I attempted to contact them several times more, with no reply. At least Amazon is refunding my purchase. Maybe my cable had a small defect, but due to the lack of customer service, I doubt that I will make another purchase from Fanatic Digital.

Worked for 7 Months, Good Buy
Well, as the old adage goes, “You get what you pay for.” In this case, I paid about $5 including shipping for this product in November 2008. It’s now June 2009 and the cable has given up the ghost.
I had it connected to my 24″ Samsung monitor via HDMI out on my PC, and it worked wonderfully for both that and my Blu-Ray player. Last week, however, I started to run into problems. Blue specks were distorting the picture on my monitor and causing the displayed picture to do some really funky things. I suspected it could be my graphics card or monitor, but it turns out it was the cable.
I don’t regret purchasing this cable at all because it was such a good price and it lasted for so long. I do have to warn any potential customers, however, that you may have to get a replacement in 6-8 months. This is a cheap cable, and it wasn’t manufactured to last as long as ones you will pay more for.
I’m not recommending going with a Monster HDMI cable, but I do have to let you know that a $20 investment in a name-brand or higher quality cable might be in your best interest.
So, I’m back to the 4ft DVI cable that came with my PC, which should suffice for now as DVI and HDMI can send a crisp HD signal to my monitor.
Don’t Waste Your Money On Monster Cables!!!
I compared this to a Monster HDMI cable on my 73″ Mitsubishi HDTV using my PS3. There was no difference at all. Don’t waste your money on those stupid monster cables. This cable works great.
Works perfectly
I used this cable to connect a Playstation 3 to a 40″ Sony Bravia. At 1080p, the picture is perfect. There are no distortions in the picture or problems with any individual pixels.
It’s hard to judge the quality of the materials without taking the thing apart but there’s nothing noticably poor in the manufacturing or material quality of the cable. It’s pretty plain looking and less attractive than the higher-priced cables but who cares?
When you consider that it gives you the same result as a Monster or Belkin cables that cost 10 to 20+ as much, it’s clear that you’re getting a lot of value per dollar with this cable. And yes, it also implies the opposite with those higher-priced cables.
My only complaint is that shipping was $1 more than the price of the cable.

Better than Dell’s
I got the standard battery with my inspiron 1501 and the battery would only last a maximum of 45 minutes with a full charge. The comparable battery as this one from Dell was $189.00 plus $15 shipping and 2-3 weeks delivery. I found this one and got it in 4 days at standard shipping. It last 2.5-3 hours with heavy use. GREAT DEAL!
A good replacement
I purchase this to use with a Dell Inspiron 1501. it fits and it works. I thought that I would have gotten more battery time from it but I was mistaken. I get about 4.5 hours. It price was reasonable.
Got a 4800mAh instead of 6600mAh !!!
It works. But as Dung Anh Huynh recently pointed out, it comes as a 4800mAh instead of 6600mAh as in the description! The seller was not honest.

I purchased this so that I might not have to buy another memory stick ever for my PSP. It works well and I have lots of memory left over for pictures, saved games, pictures, music, etc.
Wow. Lots of space!
I bought this memory stick for storing pictures and short movie clips on my Sony SteadyShot digital camera (DSC-T30B) and it can hold almost 1,200 photos at 7.2 megapixels. Impressive. I decided to take a movie on the camera to see how long it would let me film. I got bored after 11 minutes so I don’t know how much longer I could have gone. But 11 minutes is pretty good with a memory stick on a digital camera. I have no complaints with how much this little memory stick can hold, or with the quality.

Garmin heart rate monitor for Edge 305
Works as advertised, no problems. This is a replacement of my first one that the seal (o-ring type) in the battery compartment failed, causing the battery to corrode due to moisture leaking. Then it never worked again. Be careful changing batteries not to damage the seal.
Accurate!
I was very excited when I saw the ad for the Garmin Forerunner 405 and couldn’t wait to get one. Unfortunately, when I went to make my purchase, the store only had the Forerunner 405 without the heart monitor in stock. To get the full benefits of my new Forerunner 405, I knew this was something I wanted to try.
When my Garmin Heart Rate Monitor came in, I immediately paired it with the Forerunner 405. Pairing was a breeze. I then put it on and wore it for a few minutes to check its accuracy (I wanted to be certain of its accuracy before I adjusted my run workouts based on the results). Suffice it to say, I was more than pleased with the results! It has become a constant companion to me along my runs.
Easy to use, works great
I got the Forerunner 405 as a gift, but without the HRM. I got this as an add on, but it worked seemlessly. I put it on and it synched immediately without having to really do anything on the device. Still figuring out all of the features, but the combo is highly recommended (I run and cycle).
