I assume some of the other reviewers did not actually see this DVD! It has ALL the stout moments of Reagan’s presidency (Inauguration, Base Empire, Challenger, D-Day, along with lots of gigantic jokes, including the age joke in the debate against Mondale, etc… etc…, including virtually all that another reviewer claimed was missing) . The only speeches of import that are missing are from BEFORE his Presidency, which is implied by the subtitle: A President’s Greatest Moments. It even has the entire tribute film that renowned his vast Presidency at the ‘96 convention. For anyone looking for an animated and uplifting compilation of all the highlights - and one that moved my trusty Democrat mom to tears - this is it!
Even the most cynical liberal must concede that when Reagan spoke, every word came from his heart; he simply believed that America was the greatest nation in the world, Communism was atrocious and the accepted sense of everyday people was capable to Ample Government. This DVD captures some of that eloquence but leaves out some of Reagan’s greatest speeches. Someday, a Reagan DVD will include the following: the ‘Time for Choosing’ Goldwater speech in 1964, his consolation speech to the 1976 GOP convention, highlights from the 2nd debate with Carter in 1980, the inaugral address in 1981, the ‘Evil Empire’ speech in 1983, the D-Day Anniversary in 1984, the 1984 GOP convention acceptance speech, the 1985 Oval office address after the Challenger anxiety, the 1987 Oval office address after the Rejyavik Summit, the Berlin Wall speech in 1987 and finally, his last address from the Oval Office in 1989. A DVD of this magnitude would be a fitting tribute to one of the greatest Presidents in US History.
