Great Multiplayer Action4
Even though it’s showing its age, Battlefield 1942 is still a great multiplayer experience. I hust bought a new iMac G5 and my PC friends still wanted to game with me. After I installed the Desert Combat 0.7 modification we were off and playing online again. The only real issue is that even with a 2.0 Ghz G5 and 1.5 GB of RAM, it struggles against 49 bots on an enemy team. Just play online against humans or keep the bot count a bit lower. I like the ability to play with my Windows using friends.

Great5
This game is a very fun game. If you’ve beaten all your MOH and COD games, give this one a try. It’s lack of a path to follow make the game free and open, Not like MOH where you are led places by the games story. You’ll love the re-playability, every battle is different, and chooseing axis or allies makes it even better. The tanks and cars are awsome. ( the planes take some getting used to.)
Battlefield Road to Rome is the iceing on the cake, it adds four new levels and two new armies, ( the French and the Italians. ) and more guns like the sten and some Italian mg, More tanks and better planes are at you’re disposal.
Overall, two very fun games.

Its Still Got It!4
Battlefield 1942 may be an older game, but its got amazing graphics for its time. I like to play games like Star Wars Battlefront(which is the same concept, ust in a Star Wars universe), which are games with “ticket” counters, command posts, and different “kits”, including scout, assault, anti-tank, engineer, and medic. You can replay important battles in history, including Iwo Jima, Battle at the Bulge, etc. It does have a campaign mode, which I guess you could call its storyline, but if you want a good storyline, try Halo. My G5 can run it smoothly on medium setting, but it gets jumpy if you put it on high. Some of the battles are a little exclusive to one side(Axis or Allies), like Battle of Midway is almost impossible to beat as the Allies. With the addition of the Road to Rome expansion, you get more maps, more weapons, and more armies.

Gameplay: 5 stars

Maps: 4 stars

Graphics: 5 stars

Overall: An awesome game.

Great for Gifting5
Complaining about ordering versus just paying the monthly fee is missing the point of part of the purpose of these cards. We have a friend who, because of financial constraints, can’t currently afford to foot the bill for City of Heroes, which he used to play. A few of us who do play are looking to purchase at least 6 months of game time for him for the holidays, and this is a great way to help him participate in a hobby he loves.

Game Card is awesome5
Its always a plus to find these cards online rather then not find them in stores now-a-days

Decent bang for your buck4
With these timecards at last glance costing roughly $25, and getting free shipping on orders of $25 or over, it’s worth it to save yourself the five bucks and order one through Amazon. They work on Lineage, Lineage 2, CoX, and Aion.

Before buying this version of NCSoft’s timecard, though, you may want to check individual game timecards by the company. I bought one of these generic timecards and 3 Lineage 2 timecards, and they worked out to costing almost the same after subtracting shipping and handling. It’s a little known fact that any NCSoft timecard works with any NCSoft game. Do your research! At this time, I have not checked to see if there are still any L2 timecards available for around $10-$15 a pop (that’s for 60 days). But if there are, get those instead, since they WILL work with Aion.

Customer Reviews:

Very awesome product but map is lacking4
I still own my Garmin GPS 10. It’s a wireless bluetooth gps device for a Pocket PC/Laptop. This product is so awesome, I decided to stick with Garmin. This led me to the 60Cx.

The biggest con to this device is that the maps are very basic. Notice on all the 60Cx product images, it’ll say in small print “Shown with optional MapSource data.” This might be bearable for hiking but is horrible for automotive use. You will need to buy detailed maps that can run over $100.

The extra features such as information on sunrise/sunset or fishing/hunting conditions are very convienent. This device is definately a dream for anyone who love gps functionality.

The color screen is also very nice. In direct sunlight, I was able to see it with clarity. The brightness of the screen is at a perfect level for night use. It’s not too bright and not too dim.

The controls are clumsy at times but i guess you’ll get use to it. The sensitivity is great! I never got signal in my house with my GPS 10. The 60cx picked up signal with no problem.

My customization:

Garmin City Select North America v6 was included with my Garmin GPS 10. I registered the device online. Through Garmin’s site, I was able to generate a 2nd unlock code. I used this unlock code to installed City Select North American v6 onto my 60cx. It’s funny that Garmin’s site doesn’t mention it was compatible with City Select. My 60cx now has detailed maps and added functions such as being able to search for addresses which wasn’t possible with 60cx’s basemaps. I am also very happy with the performance of the device. It basically does everything my Pocket PC and GPS 10 does. Once i installed the detailed maps, this device has been a dream gps device. I used it in the car and for hiking. It will be great when I go visit New York for the first time.

Conclusion:
Overall, I think this is a great gps device. It is solidly built and waterproof at that. Everything about it is great EXCEPT for the horrible basemaps. You will have to shell out over $100 for detailed maps but if you add up the total it still comes out cheaper than my Pocket PC + GPS 10 combo(about $640 for me). I think the 60cx is worth every penny.

EDIT:
May 2006

I’ve had the 60Cx for 3 months now. It is still an awesome device. One thing I want to comment on is battery life. I do not use regular alkaline batteries. I use Energizer Rechargables, 2500mah, and slow recharge at 8 hours per session. I entered in an address that was 2 hours from where I was started. It tracked my position, estimated time til turn and estimated arrival time. When I got to my destination, the GPS battery meter was at HALF. the GPS will only last on average of 4-5hours while on a route. This is still pretty good comparing it to my Dell Axim + GPS 10 combo. I am not sure how long it will last if you’re just using it without being on a route.

I was a bit dissapointed that Garmin did not state how it got the 30 hours battery life. They might just mean 30 hours on standby.

Also, the 60Cx does drain your batteries even while it is off. I had my unit stored in the drawer for a week. The batteries were drained. So it is highly recommended you get rechargable batteries for this device. If you are taking it with you on a trip, bring at least two sets of battery.

Hyper Sensitive and Accurate! Just Awesome!5
I recently received my 60cx from Amazon, and after putting it through its paces, I am extremely impressed with it. I had the older GPSMAP 60c as well, and did some comparisons between the two.

Garmin’s not kidding when they say this receiver is more sensitive. I can pick up at least 5 satellite locks from INSIDE my house, about 10ft away from any window. I don’t even know how it’s possible, but it locks on and maintains its signal.

Navigation is awesome as well. Do yourself a favor and get the CitySelect Maps for this thing, they’re great. Highly detailed. The processor even seems faster as well. The re-draw time on the maps is fast, even when at maximum detail.

Bottom Line, if you’re looking for a fantastic GPS unit that is perfect for rugged activities like hiking and geocaching, and can also handle “turn-by-turn” road navigation with ease, then this is the GPS for you! Garmin has done a great job with this thing! Buy this now!

I’m a Very Happy Owner of the Map 60Cx5
Finally a GPS unit that simply works the way it’s supposed to! Ok… I admit I am still on my honeymoon with the Garmin Map 60Cx, but so far it has worked like a dream and has exceeded my expectations.

This unit was very easy to use intuitively right out of the box. My greatest surprise was when I turned on the unit for the first time and, literally within a minute, I had locked 6 satellites! (with another 4 on the way). I just have to mention that with my previous 3 GPS units, I would have to wait 10 to 20 minutes for a lock on the minimum 3 satellites. Also, this Map 60Cx seems to keep lock well even with buildings, trees, and obstructions (whereas my previous GPS units would frustratingly lose lock when I entered a forest or even stood next to a building). This really makes the Map 60Cx a great pleasure to use. It initiates right away and keeps lock, just like it should. The displays are easy to read and interpret and it easily navigates through the different pages with simple intuitive controls (with Windows-like menus). Oh! and the colour display is great, very easy to see even without the backlight.

The difference between the Garmin GPS Map 60Cx and the Garmin GPS Map 60CSx is that the 60CSx has an electronic compass and a barometric altimeter built in and it usually costs about $30 more than the 60Cx. I opted for the 60Cx (minus the compass and altimeter) because I already had these instruments on my wrist watch, they were redundant with the GPS compass and GPS altimeter already included with the unit, and I noticed that compared to the 60CSx with an 18 hour battery life, the Map 60Cx sips power with up to a 30 hour battery life. Since the only difference between the two are these two additional instruments (compass and altimeter), I can only surmise that the exta power drain must be related to them.

As for battery life, I have not encountered any problems yet. One of my reasons for choosing this product is because it did NOT use an internal or proprietary rechargeable battery. I needed a unit that used plain, readily available, easily replaceable alkaline batteries. Rechargeable batteries do gradually lose their effectiveness over time (as another reviewer noted and attributed to the GPS unit). For me, it is easier and more reliable to just pop in 2 fresh Duracells than to wonder what the current max charge is on my rechargeables (or to pay $20-$30 for some exotic hard to find “EL-1078-4a” battery when it finally dies). This principle holds true for most consumer electronics. I try to avoid anything that uses some special battery (even a CR123 at $5 each) or worse, some specific proprietary battery made just for the device.

Another key feature that I required was waterproofness. I use my GPS unit on, in and over the water (not to mention inclement weather).

The base map is sufficient for my needs so far (hiking and geocaching), but eventually I will pick up the City Navigator software for road directions when I travel. I have seen this software in use on my friend’s GPS Map 60CSx (the sister unit to the 60Cx) and despite the seemingly high additional cost, I think that for what you get, it is a good deal. Not only does it upgrade the unit into a highly effective turn by turn road navigator, but it also adds a nice city guide feature that allows you to find restaurants, gas stations, hotels, and Starbucks.

Also, having had some previous experience in law enforcement and familiarity with the California Vehicle Code, I would like to mention that the suction-cup mount accessory for the windshield is illegal in the State of California. It’s CVC 26708(a).

UPDATE TO REVIEW 5/20/08:
Ok, I’ve used this product for a year now, the honeymoon’s over… LOL… …and I still love this product. It has performed superbly way beyond my expectations. First of all, it is indeed very rugged. I’ve dropped this unit many times, abraded the casing against rocks, accidentally given it impromptu dunkings in rivers and streams (not sea water yet!), and have taken it into extremes of temperature from freezing 20 below, to 120 degree desert. All I can say is, it has endured all of this abuse admirably.
Secondly, the unit when hooked up with the North America Map Pack and the car power cord (which illuminates the display constantly) serves as an excellent turn-by-turn driving GPS. Sure a bigger screen might be nice, but the GPS and directions work (with audible alerts), so I have no complaints. The big advantage is that you can easily unhook it and take the unit with you since it was designed to be handheld, thus avoiding the biggest new temptation for auto burglars.
Thirdly, much to my delight, the base maps pre-installed with the unit include INTERNATIONAL locations also! I was able to use my GPS extensively while traveling abroad 1) ensuring that I could not get “lost” and 2) keeping an automatic, constantly updating travel track log for me. This has turned out to be a wonderful extra benefit of traveling with a good GPS unit. Everywhere I went, every interesting site, every store, every restaurant, every beautiful vista, was accurately and duly recorded, and when I got home and uploaded this track log to my computer, I have a perfect travel diary of my journey. Also, marking waypoints and actually labeling them is quite easy with this GPS unit, and I’ve been able to do it with gloved hands. If I’m in a hurry, I’d just set a “marker” and then come back and label it later.
I burn through batteries at a consistent rate of 2 AAs every 3 or 4 days (as I power down at night), which is fine with me, to avoid all the hassles of recharging or degrading performance of rechargeables.

Any negatives??
Well, I wish that instead of suspending all functions and wasting power to give me multiple and redundant audible and lit up “pop-up” warnings that my “BATTERY IS LOW”, that it would just go ahead and try to function with what little power is left until I run out of power. This is an annoying idiosyncracy of many small electronics including cell phones and iPods. I mean, I can’t help but wonder how much longer these units might have functioned if they didn’t expend their last gasp of power on these incessant low power warnings.
I think I would have extended the grippy rubber covering to the sides of the unit also. The times that I’ve dropped it were usually because it simply slipped out of my hand while holding it along the sides.
Alas, the nifty plastic belt clip did not last long under field use. Replacement clips are hard to get (and pricey too). I finally had to upgrade to a rugged military grade nylon web pouch (designed to hold a single smoke or flash-bang grenade).

ADDICTIVE BOUNCING FUN - NOW WITH ITS AddOn!!!5
This is the most successful cross between Patchinko and Pinball! It will have you laughing and shouting at the damn bouncing ball…

At every level there is a number of colored pegs that have to be hit in order to clear the level. They are amongst generic pegs that is OK to hit yet will hinder your access to the colored ones you have to clear - and you have only a limited number of shooting balls.
Every time you shoot a ball it gets used - unless you are lucky to fall into an oscillating bucket and gets recycled. There are also special pegs that give you special abilities for a limited time.
I am afraid I am not doing justice to the game - if it sounds complicated it is not. You pick it up in a minute and it is GREAT FUN!

This is a perfect example of what has come to be known as Casual Gaming. It would be a good idea to download the 60-min trial version from a site, such as REFLEXIVE (you can Google it), and decide for yourself whether this is indeed your cup of tea.

Anybody can make a good game that will run only on a super-computer. This is an example of pure programming genius!

If you already own Peggle keep in mind that this version only extends the original with some extra levels and a new “superpower”. It is not its sequel - so decide accordingly.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Great game for all ages - and better than the original!5
For a simple concept - clear the colored balls off of each screen - this is an amazingly addictive game for casual gamers of all ages. It’s simple and dramatic enough to entertain even the youngest players, but has enough strategy and thought needed to achieve higher challenges to please any adult.

If you’ve played the original Peggle, this version is even better and more addictive because:

- The graphics are more dramatic and entertaining, with a tale that weaves them together.

- There is much more continued playability with this version. There are screens you work through to clear the colored balls and release a superpower, exceed a best score to achieve an “Ace Award”, and clear all the pegs to receive a 100% clear award. When you achieve the ace award or the 100% clear award for ALL of the screens - you receive a trophy. While, that’s enough to keep anyone addictively attached to their computer for far too long, there’s also a large group of separate challenges (like clearing a screen using only 2 balls), which you’ll receive another trophy for if you can complete them all.

- There’s a new superpower in this one - the Electrobolt. Though it’s interesting to try and needed for a few screens, it’s not my favorite one.

BOTTOM LINE: If you’ve been addicted to Peggle before - you’re going to like Peggle Nights even more! If you haven’t tried Peggle before, but in general like puzzle games like Tetris, Zuma or Bejeweled - you are absolutely going to enjoy this one! But, be forewarned: this game is incredibly addictive and some screens may leave you talking to (or yelling at) your computer!

Pop Cap scores again!!4
Bought for my 2 grandchildren. They LOVE Bookworm. This is different, but, they had a great time getting to different levels. The graphics are really good. They had a great time getting to different levels and really laughed when they won each game, and the fireworks and music sounded.

Big, Arcade-Style Challenges for Strategic Thinkers
Your favorite chaotic, pachinko-style pinball game is back. Action-packed and family-friendly, this game will quickly find you sending balls flying at strategically located bricks, pegs, and obstacles to score points and show off your unique skills and style. And the advanced physics of previous Peggle games is still at work, which means the trajectory of each bouncing ball is intricately calculated, and the results of a shot may change if your aim is off even the slightest bit. The precision with which angles are used here also means that you’ll find math-practice and strategic planning hidden in what seems like a simple game of chance.

Colorful Pegs and Cool Super Powers
You’ll find pegs and bricks of different colors that unlock cool powers, and once you hit all 25 orange pegs on a level, you will activate Ultra Extreme Fever mode, win an All Pegs Cleared Ribbon, and move on to the next level of play. The ability to win points for cool or tricky shots adds an extra element to any contest, while the fast, family-friendly action of 60 adventurous levels and 60 Challenges keeps things interesting and engaging over the long haul. There’s even a duel mode that lets you go head to head with the computer or take on a friend and establish grounds for bragging rights.

Unique Artwork and the Hidden Secrets of Magical Masters
In the course of your Peggle training at the Institute, you’ll also enjoy the backdrop set by a fantastical world, and you’ll meet ten unique Peggle Masters. From Bjorn, the Super Guide unicorn, to Kat Tut and the Renfield Pumpkin, master of Spooky Ball, these quirky, personable characters have their own specialties and magic powers, adding depth to the strategic elements of each contest. Fans of the original game will be sure to enjoy the way each master takes on a special “undercover” style after sunset, starting with the revelation of Bjorn’s mask, cape, and adventurous, justice-seeking ways.

And, of course, the unique, illustration-inspired artwork packed with bold colors that is responsible for Peggle’s truly magical feeling is back at work in this game.

Customer Reviews:

A more challenging alternative to “Jedi Academy”4
“Outcast” is the 3rd of the “Jedi Knight” PC games - or the 4th of the “Dark Forces” game, and the 1st of the series built using the “Quake III” engine. A sequel to `97’s “Jedi Knight”, “Outcast” reunites you with ex-Imperial Commando, ex-Rebel Mercenary Kyle Katarn. Now firmly working with the “New Republic” (established by the rebellion after their victory over the Empire), Katarn is also an ex-Jedi by the game’s first mission. With Jan Ors, his lovely & trusty sidekick, Katarn infiltrates a stronghold belonging to holdout Imperial forces known as “The Remnant”. What appears at first to be a routine battle with Remnant forces reveals signs of a larger and more ominous plot to create an army of Dark Jedi - a plan that includes an ambitious Imperial governor, an outcast of Luke Skywalker’s Jedi academy, the Valley of the Jedi (from the last game), hundreds of evil - if inexperienced Jedi Knights - and a form of armor impervious to lightsabres. In confronting the plan, you’ll travel to many locales both familiar and new to SW fans - from an Imperial prison to the Bespin cloud city of “Empire Strikes Back”, from the “floating city” of Nar Shadaa to a Remnant base hidden in an asteroid belt; from the corridors of a huge Remnant battlecruiser to the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4 (last seen at the end of the first SW movie). The story is tight - you don’t choose missions, the plot will direct you. Along the way, you’ll encounter familiar SW characters like Luke Skywalker & Lando Calrissian. Cut-scenes (using the game-engine, and not the FMV of “Jedi Knight”) drive the story. (Everybody hated the video scenes from “Jedi Knight” - everybody but me; compared to the second trilogy, the FMV scenes of “Jedi Knight” were pure SW gold.)

The game is intense - the handful of evil Jedi from “Jedi Knight” are replaced with hordes of “Reborn” here, many in that special armor; even stormtroopers - reliable blaster-fodder from the movies and the older games - are tougher than before. To get through the game’s many levels will not infrequently require special puzzle-solving skills. Individual levels are very long, and the game itself may consume about a month’s worth of late-night Jedi-frag sessions. (Comparable gameplay wrapped up “Voyager: Elite Force” - the “Star Trek” Quake3 game - in about a week.) Some challenges seem needless - with players being forced to re-play the same the moment because they couldn’t handle simple things like walking a ledge or jumping. The game could also have done without sniping - where you’re picked off by some distant shooter you’d never even know existed until after he’d killed you. Lastly, the story - while governing the game - isn’t all that compelling. It’s your basic One-Jedi-versus-many-evil-Jedi-and-Imperial-stormtroopers story - an afterthought guaranteed to have you prowling many corridors in search of power-ups.

The Quake3 engine is breathtaking - smoke/vapor and laser effects are beautiful, and the smooth animation means that saber duels are much closer to those in the movies than to the saber battles of “Jedi Knight”. The game also excels in visualizing vast distances (like the insides of the huge Bespin ventilation shafts) and the sounds of distant characters, and different atmospheric settings - from the claustrophobic corridors of a starship, to the sweeping avenues of Bespin; the steamy jungles of Yavin 4 to the hallowed halls of the Massassi Temple.

The obvious question is whether you should get this game instead of “Jedi Academy” - the other SW/Quake3 game, or whether your owning that newer game obviates having to get this one. “Outcast” is more challenging than “Academy” in almost every way - tougher Jedi battles, longer levels, more of them, more tenacious AI, hard puzzles - resulting in many moments that have to be re-played as apparently insurmountable. Casual players will probably be turned off by “Outcast”, and should stick with “Academy”. Those who feel ready for something more than stormtroopers and jedi mind-tricks will be more than satisfied with “Outcast”. Also, while I may just be jaded, I’ve yet to find a SW game that matches the experience I enjoyed playing “Jedi Knight” back in 1997.

MY FULLY ARMED AND OPERATIONAL BATTLE-STATION: a P4 running 2 GHz, with 512MB of RAM and a GeForce III card kept the force (and the action) flowing smoothly on my system. Though an old game, prospective buyers should check the LA website to make sure their graphics cards are supported. My original Savage card, ably handling “Elite Force” was hamstring by this game despite both using the same graphics engine.

Worthy of the title “STAR WARS”5
To begin, let me simply say that the very best time to purchase a computer game (any computer game) is when the price has gone down to $20.00. For instance, when HALF-LIFE 2 has gone down to that price, I will purchase it, play it, and have just as much fun as the the people who bought on the day it was released. No, I’ll have even more fun than they did, because I will have paid $30.00 less.

So, if you’re smart and you have waited until now to purchase JEDI OUTCAST, then wait no more. The price is down and the game is every bit as awesome now as when it was first released! It has the best storyline of any Star Wars game I have yet played, and as good as even a couple of the movies (I will not mention which ones). Perhaps my favorite part about this game were the conversations you hear the stormtroopers engaged in. They are quite humorous and realistic. They sound as if they were written by someone who has actually served in the military (particularly in an enlisted status).

The lightsaber fights are always fun as are the use of force powers. JEDI OUTCAST has the best re-playability of any computer game I’ve ever played.

I highly recommend it.

Almost as good as Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight5
It has better gfx, better light saber interaction, expanded story line, but no movie cut scenes, not as much platforming, and no tumbling ship stages. :(

Still yet, a million times better than Academy!
