Not Forgotten is a good ride. The interesting plot twists and solid performances by Simon Baker (from tv’s The Mentalist) and Paz Vega take viewers on a journey of intrigue. Blending suspense, horror and action - the film makers even throw in a few laughs. I am usually a pretty good predictor of twists, but didn’t see this one coming. Exploring the dark religion of La Santa Muerte is fascinating and yet disturbing. A few keystrokes on the net will take surfers to an informational website about Santa Muerte […] to read more about it’s history.

The 1984-85 season, the seventh and final of CBS’s The Dukes Of Hazzard is exactly the same,in the aspect of cast,as when it premiered in January 1979. Only Sonny Shroyer was not a regular at the time of premiere. The opening theme is exactly the same and the montage is exactly the same as seasons 4 and 6. The closing instrumental theme is exactly the same as seasons 4-6. Highlights from this season include a guest appearance by off-screen narrator,now-deceased country music artist Waylon Jennings. The composer and performer of the DOH theme plays himself. Deputy Enos Strate(Shroyer) was bodyguarding Jennings’ trailer while Jennings was in Hazzard County for a concert or two. In HAPPY BIRTHDAY GENERAL LEE,Luke(Tom Wopat) and Bo(John Schneider) flashback to about a decade earlier when they first obtained the 1969 Dodge Charger that was named “The General Lee”. Luke and Bo were falsely accused of some felonious crime and were taken to a penetentiary, much to the delight of Sheriff Roscoe Coltrane(James Best) and his brother-in-law Hazzard County Commissioner Jefferson Davis “Boss” Hogg(the late Sorrell Booke). A sick, hospitalized boy meets his idol, race car driver Cale Yarbrough,as himself. In ENOS & DAISY’S WEDDING,the second to last episode,Enos finally marries the woman he always loved,Daisy Duke(Catherine Bach). The wedding was never seen or subsequently mentioned. Two criminals are about to ruin the wedding but Luke and Bo thwart the criminals’ plan and bring them to justice. Enos ends up with the measles toward the end of the episode. In the series finale, oddly entitled OPENING NIGHT AT THE BOAR’S NEST,which was written and directed by Schneider(credited as John R. Schneider),Luke,Bo and Daisy simulate Peter,Paul & Mary via two acoustic guitars played by Luke and Bo respectively. The trio provide entertainment at the Boar’s Nest, the pub and short order restaurant owned and operated by Boss and where Daisy always worked at throughout the series. This obviously was a fund-raising event and in fact, the Dukes were given moral support by service station attendant Cooter Davenport(Ben Jones). The Dukes’ Uncle Jesse(the late Denver Pyle) still had his farm and Roscoe still had his female basset hound Flash(”velvet ears”). Wopat and Schneider are country music artists themselves, each having recorded several albums of their own. The other episodes are great. CBS pulled the plug on two other hit series in 1985,those being Alice and The Jeffersons. Like the latter sitcom,DOH never had a special farewell episode because cancellation was never planned after this season. I’m sure Warner Bros.,DOH’s production company wanted to continue for an eighth season but the cancellation decision was not made until summer 1985. DOH was killed by NBC’s The Cosby Show and ABC’s Who’s The Boss(1984-85 was the first season for both series). Even ABC’s Three’s Company’s not-too-successful spinoff Three’s A Crowd was given the Nielsen axe after its only season in 1984-85. Also,NBC evicted Diff’rent Strokes from its prime-time roster and was moved to ABC. Post-DOH,Wopat and Schneider focused on their musical careers. Wopat had a recurring role on Cybill Shepherd’s short-lived CBS sitcom,Cybill,as her ex-husband. Bach had one or two short-lived series of her own. She married and still is to Peter Lopez and they have two children together. Booke passed away in March 1994 of cancer. Jones became a politician, moved to Virginia and opened a store/nightclub called Cooter’s. Best moved to Florida and became a college professor. Pyle succumbed to lung cancer at age 77 on Christmas Day 1997. He lived to appear in the first reunion movie,DUKES OF HAZZARD REUNION,first aired by CBS in April 1997. Daisy is now red-haired and drives a motorcycle. Roscoe became Hazzard County Commissioner, succeeding his brother-in-law(it was written that Boss Hogg passed away,as did Booke). Enos,Daisy’s husband,is sheriff and Boss’s cousin Cletus Hogg is deputy(Rick Hurst,a DOH regular in seasons 3-5 and recurring his role previously, was needed to fill the deputy’s shoes). A second reunion movie premiered in 2000,which was much like the season 7 episode,THE DUKES IN HOLLYWOOD. In the second reunion movie,it was written that Uncle Jesse had passed away as did his portrayer. Jennings passed away in 2002 of complications from diabetes. He continued his musical career,post-DOH. In 2005,a theatrical film was released and distributed by WB,starring Johnny Knoxville,Seann William Scott and Jessica Simpson. Simpson’s role of Daisy was a blonde. None of the DOH series cast appeared in the film, though. Country star Willie Nelson was Uncle Jesse and performed the DOH theme in the final scene(he and Jennings were longtime friends). Oscar-winner Burt Reynolds was Boss Hogg,in spite of his moustache. I dedicate this item to the memories of Pyle,Booke and Jennings.

It’s 1985 and the series has finally ran out of steam. I’m a dukes fan, always will be and people will probably tear me down for what I have to say. But I can’t get into the later seasons of Hazzard and season 7 certainly came to an abrupt end. When you run into episodes concerning little green men visiting Hazzard county, you can’t help to laugh and say, this series should have been over at the end of Season 2. Some of the storylines in this series are so bad, you might find yourself wanting to skip it all together. My biggest pet peave is that the “realism” died clearly after Season 2 was over. Season 1, (well, the first 5 episodes at least is 5 hours of pure entertainment. Those first 5 episodes within season 1, filmed directly in beautiful Covington Georiga, not on a Hollywood backlot in California, simply has a better feeling at being at a real-time locale. The storylines, the writing, the realism of the show simply died and season 7 is clearly at the bottom of the barrel. And I am still annoyed by the projector screen backdrops in these later seasons. It’s so fake it’s almost laughable. Fans will clearly notice how it looked so much better when they were actually in the car with the camera on the hood of the car. It’s those teeny added touches from Season 1 and 2 that are sorely missed and season 7 is no exception.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Dukes of Hazzard - The Complete Seventh Season! Click Here

Rosco ruined it for me even moreso in season 7 as his character basically turned into a bumbling baffoon and his stupidity got worse from season to season. No longer a corrupted sheriff, rosco evolved into a crybaby with no seriousness at all. The comedic atmosphere in the final seasons are wy over done. Seeing aliens visit form outerspace was enough to make me puke. I missed the awesome storylines, they clearly ran out of ideas. I know they went for the “comedic” route as the seasons progressed and wanted to make the series more family orientated, but why not stick with what made the original series so great.

Sorrell Booke (Boss Hogg) basically got dumber too as the series has progressed. No longer a intelligent criminal politican, he’s just another idiot by Rosco’s side.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Dukes of Hazzard - The Complete Seventh Season! Click Here

The series last episode is a decent farewell to the series, but it’s still illfades in comparison to the orignal episode in 1979.

However, fans of the series should probably own every episode. Even though I’ll probably watch this collection one last time, I always find myself going back to Season 1 where it all got started. The first 7 episodes are 7 hours of pure fresh fun from Hazzard and defintely shows how the show became so darn popular.

This movie was great. Kuch Naa Kaho (Say No More) was my second bollywood movie (if you count Bride & Prejudice as full-on bollywood) and I enjoyed it so much I’ve actually sat through it twice already (to inform the reader, i am a manly man who lives and breathes sports; watching a 2 and half hour flick with sub-titles is a big deal for me, as well as a step up in my social evolution, ‘cording to my girl). I’m not saying that I’ve become a full-on bollywood fan, just an ardent Aishwarya Rai slave.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kuch Naa Kaho! Click Here

Anyway, the basic plot: Raj lives in America and is tricked into going to India to go to his sister’s wedding, suspecting all the while that his matchmaking uncle’ll try to marry him off. He meets Namrata (Aishwarya Rai) by a cute coincidence; later, Namrata is talked into guiding/babysitting the reluctant Raj as he dates the five women set up by his uncle; of course, it turns out the perfect chica for him is Namrata; but then there’s a little twist…

The first two hours mostly pass in comedic fashion, now and then interrupted by song & dance numbers, then it segues into soap opera drama in the final 30-40 minutes. By the way, I just realized I haven’t even mentioned the lead actor’s name. It is Abhishek Bachchan and, apparently, he is the son of a famous actor (the director, Rohan Sippy, is also the son of a famous director). Abhishek as Raj does a pretty good job. I found myself liking the fella, even though he was romancing the girl of my dreams (I’m sure I have a shot; after all, I am a manly man). Abhishek’s sense of humor shines through (check out the “making of” on the bonus dvd to see how laid back and cheerful this cat is) but he also holds up well in the dramatic scenes. Some friends more refined than me and who, therefore, have seen multitudes of foreign films have commented that Kuch Naa Kaho is actually “a refreshing confection added to the bollywood genre, flavored with up-to-date themes and values and peppered with more modern styles of music.” Me, I just get hungry with that kind of talk. The thing about a lengthy movie like this is that, if you’re enjoying it, you fall deeper into the story so that by the end, you’re truly wrapped up into the tale and you have a deeper investment in the characters and what befalls them. Now let’s go into the movie’s not so secret weapon. For that, I’m gonna start a new paragraph.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kuch Naa Kaho! Click Here

Aishwarya Rai makes this movie work. I’m a layman when it comes to acting; basically, I know what I like. But, to me, Rai has that light, deft touch that is desperately needed with romantic comedies such as this. She is luminously beautiful, yet refreshingly down-to-earth. She makes the musical segments a sheer pleasure to watch. I’ve replayed the songs so often I could probably describe every dance step and hum every note right now…but I won’t. And Omigosh her eyes! …look, I’ve obviously degenerated into this rambling mode now so do yourself a favor, dear reader, and order this movie. This woman gets 10,000 e-mails daily worldwide. You’re gonna make it 10,001. Cheers.

I recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good, memorable laugh! It’s suitable for the entire family. Abhishek does a fabulous job. The ways in which he deflects the interest of his potential brides are clever and oh-so hilarious! I still laugh at his encounters every time I have a chance to replay this movie. It’s also a story of love and Aishwarya’s acting is wonderful (not one of her best, best though). There’s a twist in the movie and it really shows how versatile these two actors can be. The two make a great pair. I also recommend movies such as Dhaii Akshar Prem Ke, which stars both of them. Superb acting by Aishwarya (& Ajay Devgan) can be found in movies such as Dil De Chuke Sanaam. Abhishek movies I also recommend are Yuva (superb all around cast & acting in this movie, but not suitable for children as there are violence and sexy scenes) and Bunti Aur Babli (another comedy in which there’s an appearance by Aishwarya & stars Abhishek).

I just received my pre-ordered copy of the CD/DVD combo from Tribeca. I watched the video yesterday! I loved it! I attended the concert in Anaheim on September 29th and the DVD is an excellent reminder of the most amazing and exciting concert I have ever attended. Seeing Ricky on stage in his native Puerto Rico was a thrill. There are two songs that really stand out for me on this DVD.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Ricky Martin Live: Black and White Tour! Click Here

First is “La Bomba” I was totally blown away at the concert to see this number done at break neck speed. The regular release was done in about 4.5 minutes. The MTV Unplugged release was slightly slower and ran about 5.5 minutes. In the Black and White tour they did the whole number in probably 2.5 minutes! I stood there in awe as I watched it live on stage and laughed so hard I almost fell out. It’s captured here on video for posterity! Great show Ricky!

The second great thing was to see La Marie sing “Tu Recuerdo” with Ricky. When they recorded the song for Unplugged she had just undergone breast cancer surgery and they hadn’t been able to rehearse before recording it. She did an excellent job then. Here we are a few years later and she has recovered very well and looks BONITA! It was great to see her healthy and happy, they really shared a moment on stage in PR and I think you’ll enjoy it! That alone is worth the price!

What an amazing performer Ricky Martin is. He has matured into a class act . His voice is stronger than ever . This Black & White concert is as exciting as it gets. Great pacing of songs , the dancing is wonderful. Do youtself a favor and check this out.

When I originally heard about the show “One Tree Hill” I couldn’t help but think that it was going to be nothing more than a rip-off of “Dawson’s Creek” which was one of the WB highest rated shows (and ended it’s 6 year run 4 month before “one tree hill” premiered). But as a fan of the WB I tuned into the Pilot of the show. And the Pilot was bad, but it showed potential so I continued to watch the show and after about 8/9 rocky episodes, the show finally found it’s footing and starting slowly to becoming one of my favorite shows on the air.

Buy,Download, Or Stream One Tree Hill - The Complete First Season! Click Here

The show is about two brothers who grew up in the small town of tree hill and yet they barely know each other. Luke, who along with his mother was abandoned by his father before he was born, is the outsider; while Nate, who his father considers to be his only son, grew up to become one of the popular kids in school. But when Luke join’s Nate’s Basketball team, the two brothers beging to breakdown the years of walls their father has put between them.

Warner Brother’s has put together a really nice set, releasing it a little earlier than usual (they usually wait til at least the third season of a show to release the first on DVD). The Set comes packaged the same was as all of Warner Brother’s other WB sets (bookstyle packaging). The Special Featuresing include Commentary on 4 episodes, A Making-of Documentary, a Behind-the-Scenes Featurette, a Music Video, Gag Reel, and 48 Minutes of Deleted Scenes.

This is a great show, and I can’t wait for it to get licensed- hopefully they’ll grace the DVD with a few worthwhile extras, too.

When I first heard about One Tree Hill, I thought it’d just be a nice replacement for Dawson’s Creek (RIP, m’dear), which I’d always enjoyed, so I gave OTH a shot. And it started off pretty well- okay, the characters were a little generic, and the storylines all felt a little ‘been there, done that’, but only because shows like Dawson’s Creek and Roswell had cornered the teen drama genre so well already. Honestly, at first the thing I enjoyed most was the basketball- the games were really exciting, and drew me into the show.

But as the series progressed, it started tackling bigger issues than most teen dramas will pit themselves against; broken homes, severe depression and self-harm, drug abuse, teen parents, expectations of self up against expectations of others- it’s not just teen problems and melodrama, and a token ‘uh oh, lookit all the angst!’ as something awful happens to prompt a character into a self-absorbed spiel on life in this awful world; something Dawson’s Creek was guilty of quite frequently. I think it was characters like Whitey and Keith who kept it grounded, actually, throughout the angst.

And that was what else impressed me: the fact that the show wasn’t content with generic characters. That was just a starting point, to make it easier to grasp a fairly comprehensive cast- after all, try and explore and assert the depth of more than four characters from day one and you’ll just have a confused audience and a pretentious cast, and I’m glad OTH didn’t try and do that. Instead, the plotlines developed around the characters and helped them grow and develop on their own, and it really worked. They actually changed and grew, instead of acting in the same old predictable way every single episode (again, something Dawson’s Creek did- they relied on new characters to freshen up the cast’s dynamic).

By the end of this first series, I really actually gave a damn about the characters and their lives- even the ones I couldn’t stand at the start. And the constant ‘will they, won’t they’ didn’t get on my nerves the way the Dawson/Joey or Rachel/Ross pairings sometimes did.

This really is a cool show, going from strength to strength throughout the series and hitting home in a lot of ways. If you like good drama and characters you can empathise with, as well as humour, excitement, a great soundtrack (Gavin Degraw, Keane, Maroon 5, Dashboard Confessional, Five for Fighting, Sheryl Crow and Switchfoot to name but a few) and some really kickass basketball games, OTH is the show for you.

And yeah, Chad is fit. ^_^

There are times when mainstream animated series outdo themselves. The Simpson’s softball episode, the X-Men’s Phoenix saga, and the Mr. Hanky episodes of South Park are great examples of this. ‘Star Crossed’ is on that level.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Justice League - Starcrossed: The Movie! Click Here

This episode is really intended for fans ‘The Justice League’ animated series, and makes a number of references to past events and relationships. If you’re in that category, know this: this episode brings the heat from the first few minutes through the dramatic (and somewhat unexpected) conclusion.

The plot and dialogue are tight, and the animation strong. This is a phenomenal jumping off point for the upcoming ‘Justice League: Unlimited’ series as well.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Justice League - Starcrossed: The Movie! Click Here

I don’t want to spoil the story with too many details, but the plot is actually somewhat reminiscent of the series pilot, and brings each of the heroes’ personalities into clearer perspective. And for those of you who only watch for the fight scenes, this episode ought to satisfy you as well.

One of the toughest aspects of writing stories for a team like the Justice League is that some characters render others redundant. For example, if you have Superman and the Green Lantern, what do you do with the Flash and Hawkgirl? In order to make for a truly interesting story, then, you have to introduce a conflict that will really tax ALL of the characters. This does–trust me.

I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because new viewers would likely miss the significance of many of the character interactions. With that in mind, I would say people who have no familiarity with the Justice League series should at least watch the pilot, ‘Secret Origins’ before viewing this. I’d also recommend the episodes ‘Paradise Lost’, and ‘In Darkest Night’ if you can find them. But the bottom line is that this is the best DC animated episode to come along since “World’s Finest”. ‘Nuff said!

I guess the Amazon.com editorial reviewer keeps tabs on Justice League news across the internet, because the three episodes on this DVD that make up “Starcrossed” do indeed drastically shake the status quo, and set the stage for the show to return as “Justice League Unlimited” for season 3. However, Starcrossed will not be broadcast first in the United States; while these episodes have already aired around the world, Cartoon Network USA has decided to make this DVD the official US premiere of Justice League: Starcrossed.

In Starcrossed, Hawkgirl’s people come to Earth to help the Justice League repel an alien invasion. As their ulterior motives are slowly revealed, Hawkgirl is torn between her relationship with Green Lantern and her loyalty towards her commanding officer, whom she is actually engaged to. That’s as much as I can reveal without spoiling things, because there is definitely a lot to spoil. Screenshots and episode summaries can be found online, but there’s so much Justice League goodness in this episode that if you haven’t looked at them already, I’d strongly advise you not to. Those who’ve complained about the blandness of season 1 have seen the improvement of season 2, and Starcrossed is the culmination of all the best things about this season. Despite all the budgetary constraints that have hindered the series, this is as epic as you can get in animated programming these days.

Some other good news is that the disc will contain both fullscreen and widescreen versions, and that there will be some probably quick but juicy bonus interviews. It’s kinda sneaky for WB to get fans to buy these three episodes instead of just airing them, but Justice League: Starcrossed is the kind of program worth shelling out money for.

I own the other SATC collections, so I’m not about to leave my collection unfinished. Particularly with the BEST episode of the entire series ever (beating My Motherboard, Myself from season 4, which, believe me, was no small feat in the excellent series), in American Girl in Paris Part Deux. That episode alone makes this a worthwhile purchase.

The Series wrapped up with many nice surprises. Charlotte’s new passion was not only fitting, but really suited the ‘new’ Charlotte. Miranda’s acceptance of the consequences of her new life were masterfully played by Cynthia Nixon. Catrall…Dear LORD how talented is this woman? Her protrayal of Samantha in the most serious stages of her illness was classic Samantha, but with a vulnerability never seen in this character. (Particularly the Samantha/Smith relationship and it’s very natural development.) And, of course, SJP wraps up the chapter of Carries life in a very acceptable fashion.

The series’ end was handled wonderfully and respectably for all involved (no miracle pregnancy for charlotte, no Carrie’s Wedding). This is fine television at it’s best, and any series fan will have to own this, just on principle alone.

That being said, I agree with the earlier review who said HBO isn’t real ‘user friendly’ when it comes to programming their DVD’s. I’d like to be able to watch one episode after another, but ya gotta keep running back and forth between menus. And, as I said in this episode’s predecessor review…Why only half a season? What???? But, now that you have both parts, it makes it a whole. A pricey whole in relation to the other, full-season-in-one-package wholes, but at least complete.

Now, one gripe I have moreso with this portion of the series was Mikhail Barishnikov’s character. I could never warm up to him, and aside from providing some kinda father figure ‘thing’, I couldn’t see why in the world Carrie would have ever been attracted to him, much less moved to Paris with him! That was the only part I found slightly ‘off’ in an otherwise perfect season.

But, the best twenty minutes of writing happen in the last section of the last episode, and I cannot fathom how any fan of this series or these characters doesn’t require at least 5 hankies to make it through. It’s a wonderful end to a wonderful series.

With the closing of Friends, Frasier and now Sex and the City - we truly are seeing an end to an era.

This last set of episodes seemed a little less on the edge and more like a setup to the last episode. That having been said, I would not have missed them for the world. The creators still did a great job in providing a nice ending to each of the characters’ stories.

I agree with many of the people who posted reviews for Season 5 and Season 6 Parts 1 and 2 - HBO treats the SATC followers very shabby in (1) charging so much for virtually half seasons (2) releasing Season 6 as two separate FULL PRICE sets and (3) providing very little extras in Season 6 Part 1 to compensate for the price.

I must say, I totally enjoy all of the episodes with Michael Patrick King’s commentaries and I wish that he did that for EVERY episode. I also HOPE that they include the special SATC Overview show(s) (2 half hour shows that were really one show) in the Part 2 DVD set. It would also be nice to see the Oprah show with all the girls - but I am sure that will not be on there.

All in all - it was a great 6 years and I will enjoy watching them (uncut - unlike the TBS/TNT versions) forever. It is too bad that broadcast networks cannot take the lead from HBO and BBC and make LIMITED RUN series that have high quality and great stars that know they are only committed for a few years. Imagine the quality that we would enjoy. I strongly urge everyone to purchase every season from 1-6 (Parts 1 AND 2) to complete your collection of one of TV’s best groundbreaking classics (cliche, I know, but true).

The most important thing you need to know is that most of the women I know consider “Body Heat” to be the sexiest movie they have ever seen. Now, I do not feel that way, but I am pretty sure I can explain the difference in judgment. Then again, writer-director Lawrence Kasdan created sexual tension between Princess Leia and Han Solo, so we should not be surprised at what he can accomplish in a galaxy closer to home.

Attorney Ned Racine (William Hurt) is one of those lawyers whose life is in cruise control, the sort that usually find redemption in those John Grisham novels. Instead he meets Matty Walker (Kathleen Turner), a sexual siren with a well-to-do husband who leads him willingly down the path of damnation. Kasdan gets credit for taking 1940s film noir in which love goes terribly wrong and bringing it into the sexually provocative 1980s, but it is Turner who breaths the fire and passion into this film: Think Lauren Bacall’s throaty voice put into the sculptured body of a sex goddess and covered in the sweat of a hot and humid Southern summer night. The plot takes some delicious twists and turns as well. “Body Heat” paved the way for every every other sick and twisted tale of bad love to come down the road since, from “Fatal Attraction” to “Basic Instinct” and beyond.

Most Romantic Lines: “You’re not very bright, are you? I like that in a man.” That pretty much sums up this film’s idea of “romance.”

If you like “Body Heat,” then check out these other films on AFI’s list: #49 “The Postman Always Rings Twice” and #84 “Double Indemnity.” Why? Because they are also movies where a guy meets the sort of gal he would kill to be with–and he does.

It isn’t perfect (image appears a bit soft at times but part of that was intentionally due to the soft diffuse photography by Richard Kline the other part of that could be due to the interpostive negative aging)We can practically see the heat and humidity sweat through the TV screen. It also has some very nice extras for fans of the film. John Barry’s sultry score sounds rich and creamy in the 5.1 remix on this disc.

William Hurt plays criminal lawyer Ned Racine who gets pulled into an affair with married woman Matty (Kathleen Turner). She has a solution to all of their woes when she suggests they murder her wealthy husband (Richard Crenna). Featuring strong performances from a top notch supporting cast including Mickey Rourke and Ted Danson “Body Heat” recalls films like “The Postman Always Rings Twice” with its noir plot but has its own unique twists and turns.

The previous edition had very little in the way of extras. This re-release includes three featurettes on the production of the film covering everything from pre-production to post -production. We find out for example that George Lucas personally agreed to underwrite any budget overruns but did so quietly without telling Kasdan and did it on his own accord. Also Alan Ladd Jr. insisted that Hurt shave his mustache as he felt it made him look too sleazy (precisely the point). Kasdan just went ahead and shot it his way. After they saw the dalies they never complained about it again. Other interviews include new comments from Hurt, Turner, Danson, Editor Carol Littleton, cinematographer Richard Kline and director Kasdan discussing various aspects of the production. Hurt has always marched to a different drum and that’s evident in both the new and original 1981 interviews included with this set. He’s certainly off-beat.We also get five deleted scenes and the original theatrical trailer. While it might have been nice to integrate some of the deleted scenes back into the film they wouldn’t have benefited this already tightly coiled film.

This along with “The Big Chill” and Kasdan’s revival of the epic western “Silverado” continues to be the highlight of his career as a hyphenate. Although he would go on to writer/direct other challenging and memorable films such as “The Accidental Tourist”, “Grand Canyon” and “Wyatt Earp” (not to mention the underrated “I Love You To Death”) “Body Heat” established his mastery of both the written word and fleeting image of cinema.

* = can be found on vhs and single disc dvd containing 3-6 episodes ea.

This Pokémon DVD box set contains 20 episodes of the “Pokémon Advanced” season (season 6) - half of the season’s episodes.

For the price this DVD is good value, although there are no significant extras or features to speak of.

However, for those who are fans of the series, this product is probably a must, and enables them to obtain half of a season very easily (especially in comparison to the first season and the “Johto Journeys” season, where each DVD had only three episodes, making it very difficult to collect a complete season).

This style follows on from the “Master Quest” season, but has yet to be repeated for the “Advanced Challenge” or “Advanced Battle” seasons.

Overall, a good value purchase, even more so for fans of the franchise.

I had heard of “Shanghai Noon” when it had first come out, but didn’t have much interest in it. But a few weeks ago I decided to try it out once and found it thoroughly entertaining!

Princess Pei Pei (Lucy Liu) decides to leave the Forbidden City of China to go off to America. But when she arrives in Carson City with her English teacher, she realizes she has been in fact kidnapped, master minded by a traitor, Lo Fong (Roger Yuan). It’s up to the Chinese Imperial Guards to save her. One Imperial Guard, Chon Wang (Jackie Chan) is separated from his fellow mates and is stuck in the West without a clue where Carson City is! He ties up with Indians for a while, marrying the beautiful Indian princess, Falling Leaves (Brandon Merrill) then gradually teams up with ‘not quite your average outlaw’ Roy O’Bannon (Owen Wilson). With the Marshall Nathan Van Cleef (Xander Berkeley) on their tale, will they ever save the princess?

PLOT: The plot of the story is average if not very original. But the acting, action, and humor makes “Shanghai Noon” to be a five-star great movie!

ACTING: Though most people may not believe it, this is my first Jackie Chan movie to watch. Throughout the whole movie he has this sort of wise yet innocent manner about it since he has no clue how to act in the west. Lucy Liu does not come out that much in the movie yet she has her moments. She’s so regal that she’s great for the part of the princess in captive. Brandon Merrill, a real-life rodeo champion, is very cool as another princess with lots of guts, getting Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson out of trouble. But I must say, Owen Wilson of Roy O’Bannon steals the whole film. He’s just so into his part that you can’t believe he’s only acting!

ACTION: As all Jackie Chan movies are, “Shanghai Noon” is action packed. Because it’s a movie how ‘East meets West’, it has both kung fu and gun fighting. Chan gets to use antlers, a horshoe whip, his pony-tail, and other ingenious weapons while the character of Roy gets to use his ’skills?’ as a gunfighter. Lots of great scenes but my favorites are: the bar fight scene, the two Roy O’Bannon versus the Marshall ’stand-offs’, and Jackie Chan versus Lo Fong.

HUMOR: The whole movie is filled with lots of one-liners you just naturally memorize and subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) humor. Most of the humor is given off to perfection by Owen Wilson though Jackie Chan has his moments. Here are a few of my favorite lines:

Roy O’Bannon: My name’s Roy O’Bannon.
Chon Wang: Chon Wang.
Roy O’Bannon: “John Wayne”? That’s a terrible cowboy name! That’s not going to work. And neither is the ponytail.

Roy O’Bannon: We’re men, not pinatas!

Roy O’Bannon: On the count of three. 1… 2… 2 1/2… 2 and 7/8… 3!

Roy O’Bannon: I may not know karate, but I know crazy.

And basically the whole movie is simply hilarious. There’s some bloopers at the end of th movie that is just funny! I especially love the one when Jackie Chan is ‘fixing’ Owen Wilson’s shoulder! The music is very cool also, not at all the normal ‘western type’ of music you would listen to in a typical western movie, but of course, “Shanghai Noon” is NOT a typical western movie. I highly recommend it for anyone how wants a good laugh and some great action/adventure.

PG-13 RATING: The movie is rated PG-13 because of language and some scenes. Best for older teenagers and adults.

Shanghai Noon is definitely one of my favorites from Jackie Chan. Although I love most of his movies, this one had a different style that made me laugh even louder. The wild west is just something he hadn’t incorporated in this movies yet…and finally he did! I’ll say it again and again, “I STILL can’t believe he does his own stunts! ” He is absolutely amazing! Especially in the scene when Jackie and the bandits are on the train and fighting and jumping from cart to cart. It’s exciting just watching Jackie take that leap (because you know it’s real…it’s not any special effects…not the blue screen dubbed background). My favorite scene was when Jackie was being chased by the native tribal dudes. The flying axes really get your attention! Your heart races as you watch Jackie execute each move with flawless conviction. I also enjoy and appreciate how this movie (among other Jackie Chan/Chow Yun Fat/Jet Li flicks) is slowly bringing Chinese culture into the American mainstream. Just the use of mandarin in an American theater is a step up for the Asians. Lucy Liu and Owen Wilson also did a fine job. You’ll really enjoy the out-takes at the end of the film. (One of Jackie’s trademarks)
